At the end of the day Floyd's an ATG and nothing can take that away from him.
Floyd is not my TBE.
Walker Smith because of the totality of his career.
RJJ is the best I've ever seen with my own eyes live.
Ali trancended the sport.
And man to man, I think Ray Leonard AND Hearns beat Floyd.
But, to deny that Floyd is not in the conversation, to dismiss that Mayweather has a legit right to claim GOAT?
That is plain idiocy.
There is a strong argument for him now and it is only going to get stronger as time goes on.

Floyd went from a flamethrower to a precision pitcher. That is an adjustment that athletes struggle with. Going from a physical superiority to mental superiority. He was dominant at both.
History will elevate Floyd.
12 future or current HOF fighters he has beaten, that's all time great.

But what is prime?
Coralles beat Castillo, Casameyor, and Freitas AFTER he lost to Floyd.
Mosely was coming off an annihilation of Floyd boogie man Cheato.
Castillo became lineal lightweight champ AFTER Floyd beat him twice.
Zab Judah fought for belts 5 times AFTER Floyd beat him.
Hatton defended his lineal light welterweight titles twice after Floyd beat him.
JMM knocked Pac cold 3 years AFTER he fought Floyd.
Cotto has won titles in two different weight classes AFTER his fight with Floyd.
Canelo had two belts and a Ring belt before Floyd and has won belts in two different weight classes AFTER his fight with Floyd.
How, exactly, are we defining "prime"?
When I hear folks pull out that BS hateration about prime it indicates either ignorance or an agenda.
Floyd fought and beat elite competition, and did so throughout his entire career.
Period.

Floyd is not my TBE either. Not even close imo.
Greb has the most impressive resume but the zero footage puts Robinson as GOAT for me. Armstrong is up there too.
RJJ is the best I've seen too from my era of watching boxing but there's the steroid issue which taints him. I think Roberto Duran at his absolute peak is the most complete fighter we have on extensive footage.
I agree. Ali is not just the greatest Icon in boxing, but in sport, period.
Ray Leonard, Hearns and peak lightweight to Montreal Duran beat Floyd handily imo. I also believe Jose Napoles beats him and Kid Gavilan and Pryor would give him major problems. There's great lightweights other than Duran who would give him real issues as well. There's more boxers than people think that have styles that could potentially beat Floyd due to watching some of his poorer showings.
I personally don't believe Floyd is in the conversation as GOAT or even top 10 but he's an ATG in amongst the top 30 which is still an unbelievable achievement.
It will only get stronger as you say but not strong enough for him to be considered as GOAT. I'm not comfortable with that. It just wouldn't be right.Last edited by DJ Enerate; 09-06-2017, 05:03 PM.

I got no problems with people that think modern day fighters would beat the old school fighters, but just don't pull **** out of your ass to try and **** on an ATG. If you actually watch film of SRR and think he is a trash, you're just a ****ing idiot.
SRR was good, for that era. I probably dogged em more than I should've, but it was a comparison. In COMPARISON to what we have seen in our era, he is doodoo-ball trash!!!

The difference between the fab four, and the fighters in our era, is that the Fab four all fought in related weight divisions, making it possible for them to all fight eachother.
Loma, Rigo, Crawford is way better than all of them. But these fighters in our era, are spread out multiple divisions so they cant fight eachother. Its no way you can even compare the eras. Guys like Ward who fought nowhere near ww or lw. But our standouts, make a mockery of their standouts. And make them all the same size and weight class, our era would humiliate them and batter them in the ring.

Agree with your main point though, today's fighters would crush those fighters from the past.
