Any true analysis of this fight and all the strengths of both fighters from anyone who doesnt hold a huge favoritism or bias would reveal a true 50/50. When people think with bias, they think with emotion and say things based on emotion. Point blank, this is a 50/50 fight if there ever was one. Nothing should surprise anyone with what happens in this fight.

But he would have beaten Canelo for sure back then, because of the combination of his legs, awkward groove and power.

As for Mayweather, he wouldn't have come close to him; not enough money and fame for the risk.

Today, well, it's hard to speculate, since he's not in the race anymore.

        Pirog is horribly over-rated

he looked to be a very good fighter with a nice fan-friendly style, but in truth he only ever beat a green Danny Jacobs before struggling with the Argentinian journeyman Maciel

if he had not beaten Jacobs, nobody would be calling him great based off the Maciel fight

his career never really kicked off, and we saw far too little of him to make any lofty claims about greatness

a real shame, he looked sharp/skilled, with a lot of talent

Canelo is going to light that boy up? Like a Christmas tree? I'd bet all my money...

What's cool is at the end of the day objective fans of either are both not 100% confident. We know this is pretty evenly matched. Even after all the shit we've talked...

I'm not convinced Golovkin can take sustained punishment - I can see the possibility of him getting stopped on cuts or an eye closing. Canelo's one-twos are rapid fire and his defence is good enough for a not terribly athletic Golovkin - this fight is determined by how each one holds up because they will both get hit but I think Golovkin gets hit more often.

Golovkin is the one that can cause a cut or break ribs with one punch so I'd be more concerned about Canelo taking too many punches. Golovkin may get hit more but quite a bit of them are higher on the head. There's nothing to indicate that Golovkin can't take Canelo's attack as so many have done before

Canelo has never faced a hard puncher like GGG in his fight life and he will regret not fighting either Lemieux or Jacobs before this epic fight.
Oscar has taken him to the slaughter house to be slaughtered.
