ok...i hear you...here are my views though

first when you look at hopkins as far as being "bernard" or a legend or an ATG...it isnt because of his MW reign...if it stopped there hopkins probably wouldnt be held in such high regard....its what he did after it that makes him such a legendary figure and an ATG....hopkins MW reign on its own wouldnt have done that and it would have been picked apart

as far as hagler...i know ur point...its just that guys like kell brook and canelo will never be held in the same regard as hearns and duran...

with Hopkins I think it was a combo of both, his mw reign and what he did afterwards. Setting the mw defense record and topping it off with 2 hall of fame locks in tito and Oscar made him a guaranteed hall of famer. His wins vs Tarver and Pavlik did then take him to another level because he was the underdog in this fights. True, guys like brook and Canelo wouldn't hold a candle to hearns and Duran but I guess that's more so because of the era we're currently in. Ggg will never achieve atg status with the current crop of mws smws out there. He'd have to move up to light heavy and beat Ward or something like that to get close to that kind of status.

usually when fighter a who lost to fighter b picks fighter b in a big fight the forum fanboys say fighter a is just doing that because he lost to him and wants to make himself look better....if they dislike fighter b

in this situation i expect the golovkin fanboys to say "geale is a smart man..he knows...he got destroyed by golovkin"

Geale is a 2 times world champion and was rings #1 middleweight for two years. Good fighter with some very good wins against other world champions. Felix Sturm among them.
Cotto beat Geale at 157 catchweight in a time when Geale was straggling to make 160

Geales opinion is best so far IMO, I agree and I've always said Golovkin has good defence , he is not easy to hit clean at all when in range and he is very aggressive so of course he will present more opportunities than most

Canelo looks very strong at the weight but he's no Danny Jacobs for reach , size and power , hes an excellent boxer now and resilient and quick but a prime Golovkin beats him, I'm not sure yet, I will wait until fight week or the weigh in.
Golovkin is too proud to not be as good as he can be vs a so called smaller guy.
He was reckless vs Kell Brook , he won't be like that vs Canelo.

I've been going back and forth with this one. I was all in on Glolovkin but now I think defensively Canelo is better. I still have a problem with Canelo's combination punching because it's in spurts. I have a feeling this will come down to the 12th round but unlike with Jacobs it will be Canelo getting the favorable decision.

No. Cotto drained him to 157 and headbutted him. Besides that, Cotto is on PEDs post 2014.
