If Canelo was American (and therefore was fluent in English), this fight could easily destroy any of cowardly Floyd's PPV records. Now, if both Canelo and GGG were American and were fluent in English, it would probably do twice as much. But they are not. So only true boxing fans will pay for it. And it will be 100% worth it, I am sure.

So took a closer look at Canelo's record for the first time, and kind of ended up with a 'hmmmmm'.
Since 2013:
Trout: A lot of people thought it was close, but I really felt Canelo came into his own in this fight and showed some good skills. Conclusion, good win (imo), but fact was many weren't too convinced. Most had it 1 or 2 pts for Canelo.
Mayweather: Lost, Fair enough, so did everyone else, and ignoring the one dodgy scorecard, Mayweather did it with ease.
2014:
Angulo: Angulo slow as molasses by the time of this fight, easy fight.
Lara: I think I saw a poll of 89 boxing writers where it was even, an equal number scored it for Lara, Canelo, Draw. Whatever, not a clear win for Canelo.
2015:
Kirkland: An impressive win. However, Kirkland coming off 18 months inactivity and also minus Wolfe. So was a really an impressive win vs a top opponent ? Don't think so.
Cotto: Cotto started to be written off in 2012, but was carefully managed to seem better than he was after that (Delvin, a gimp Martinez that anyone would have beaten, and draining Geale to 157). Fair win for Canelo (imo), but Cotto made him work for it even though 3 years after initially being written off and now 35. So was that really so impressive from Canelo ?
2016:
Khan: Khan couldn't hurt him, had a glass jaw, predictable outcome.
Smith: Again, not an elite opponent.
JCC: Just a punching bag at 164.5. Hardly threw anything.
So how elite is Canelo really ? He walks through opponents who aren't on their A game for whatever reason, and struggles with those who are on their A game.
He dominated Chavez while Golovkin had a hard time with Jacobs. Flip that for a second - what would have been the likely outcome if Golovkin had fought Chavez and Canelo fought Jacobs ? Would our perceptions coming into this fight be different.
I wonder if I've been over-estimating just how good Canelo is. Almost all of his performances have that 'yeah but....' after them. You can say the same with Golovkin, but then its 'yeah but he ktfo'ed them, what else could he do ?', ie no prisoners, while Canelo either lost or was taken close by the 3 live opponents he fought, all of whom were under 160 (again, I was a Cotto fan too and after 2012 I knew he wasn't 100% any more, so I never saw him as a live dog).
More doubts. I wonder....
Cotto was finished by that point as well.
The fights he has looked good have come against sub-par fighters or, in Khan's case, a welterweight.
The only fly in the ointment is GGG's performance against Jacobs. Would Jacobs have beaten Canelo that night? You could make a good case for it.
We really don't know what will happen if GGG gets hit clean with a shot he doesn't see. If anyone has the capability to hit him with a bomb on his way in, it's Canelo.
We don't know whether Canelo will be able to take the relentless pressure that GGG will apply, cutting off the ring and unloading. Canelo's engine isn't brilliant and his footwork is slow, and I don't think fast enough to keep him from being pinned by GGG.
So I'm on the fence between GGG wearing him down for a late stoppage, Canelo hitting him with a beast of a combination around the middle rounds and knocking GGG clean out, or....Canelo UD with the help of the judges.

so, Jacobs size helped him
and that is the only reason why Jacobs had success..... ?
what about the success that monster Kell Brook had early ?
what if Kell had that same success, AND was able to hurt Golovkin?
if that had been the case, Golovkin may have had to knock Brook out late in order to beat him
what if Kell had that same success, AND was able to hurt Golovkin..... AND had red hair?
I see a lot of posters somehow assuming that ONLY someone with the style/size of Danny Jacobs could possibly have success against Golovkin
no idea why anyone could think that
Mr G is gonna have his hands full, both of them

What if Canelo doesn't have Jacobs' size ?
What if Canelo doesn't have Jacobs' power ?
What if Canelo doesn't have Jacobs footwork ?
What if, unlike Brook, Canelo doesn't know how to clinch if he gets rocked in the first round ? (ok he was only a 19 year-old puppy when he got rocked by Cotto Jr., but is the stand-and-trade thing wired in when he's buzzed ?)
Indeed, more questions than answers right now. Not long and we find out.
