not sure whats more cingeworthy, hipsters that actually care about ppv numbers or thinking 'lil g' is actually clever/witty.
It Don't Look Good For Saul/Lil G

Good use of facts to support your conclusion. I disagree though. You'll get big numbers from Mexican-Americans, Mexicans and Hispanics in general, that will push this north of 1MM. Canelo-Chavez did 1.2 million. I have no doubt that they'll beat that. They did a great job by bringing Golovkin on stage. Everyone who bought that saw that.If history is any indicator, the fight is going to tank...and badly.
Floyd/DLH did 2.4M buys. The next PPV fight after (Pac/Barerra II) did 350K buys.
Floyd/Canelo did 2.2M buys. The PPV fight after that (Bradley/Marquez) did 375K buys.
Floyd/Pac did 4.6M buys. The next PPV fight (Floyd/Berto) did 400K buys.
The projections for Floyd/Mac, even by haters, has it over 4M buys.
Which means Canelo/Lil G might be in trouble.
I will go on record right now as predicting it does under a million buys.Comment

I don't know how well it will do. But looking at the list the second fights just weren't as compelling from a fans perspective. For example say Floyd fought PAC immediately after the Canelo fight. I'm guessing it would have the same or higher numbers. If history is any indicator, the fight is going to tank...and badly.

Actually, it "doesn't" look good, not it "don't" look good.If history is any indicator, the fight is going to tank...and badly.

None of those fights were flops, they all did the numbers they should have. If GGG/Canelo underachieves it's because Oscar is doing a **** job promoting the fight, he's more obsessed with ****ting on Floyd/McGregor than promoting his own fight. Also doesn't help that Canelo speaks no english and GGG has no charismaComment

LOL... You make it appear they didn't spend a dime in the freak show.you don't count to good brother.
4 million ppv at $100 = 400 million
Floyd contract 100 million
conor contract 30 million
that's 270 million left. thats double what they paid
and that's not counting the actual gate, movie theater tickets, merchandise, concessions
Showtime is winning
Even circuses need to pay for elephant keepers, zebras, lions, tigers, clowns, etc. Then promote the show before it starts. That cost $$$$$.
The bigger the show the costlier it is to produce and promote.
Greedy Mayweatha was already bragging about getting a mimimum of $300 mil.
Plus probably another $50 mil for Gregor.
But we'll see whether Showtime made money or not by the number of regular fights they'll be able to come up with for the rest of the year.Last edited by rickJen; 09-01-2017, 09:27 PM.Comment

I'm just pulling from sources:
"But multiple industry sources told ESPN the fight likely will settle closer to 1.2 million buys"
http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/i...-pay-per-views
wikipedia (yeah I know everything on their isn't always right but I don't find it to be wrong often).
So if you can find me a different source I'm open, I'm just putting down what is on multiple sites.Comment
