Similar to the situation with Hulk Hogan bankrupting Gawker.
You still haven't told me what other avenues he could've taken besides suing. You're making it seem like this is all a scheme to get at Bob Arum. The only way that would be true is if he had another option to recoup his losses besides suing the WBO. So what other option did he have besides suing?

The dude is a conspiracy theorist. He claims this is Haymon retaliating for Top Rank recent ESPN deal even though Trout filed this suit 2 years ago. Before Top Rank even thought about an ESPN deal

ima call bull**** on the wbo......

trout was IN their rankings BEFORE smith signed on to fight for the vacant title

liam smith was gonna fight soro but soro didnt fight and they called up john thompson instead of trout

"Amazingly, the very same Inter-Continental title that helped Smith earn a Top 5 ranking was at stake in the Boxcino finals. It enabled Thompson to advance to the number five spot in the 154 lb. division, with Smith inexplicably dropped altogether.

The swap was brought to the attention of the WBO, who re-inserted Smith into the July rankings – entering one slot higher at number three, with Spyrko dropping to number four and Thompson remaining at number five. The move resulted in Trout somehow being removed from the rankings. "

As for Trout? The WBO managed to finally respond to his team in September, at which point the boxer – who never turned down a chance to fight for the title, nor was he offered such an opportunity - magically re-appeared in the number four spot of the rankings, wedged directly in between Smith and Thompson. The reinsertion was written off an “omission” on the part of the sanctioning body, with his placement coming after a 6th round knockout of Joey Hernandez earlier in the month.

No matter what happens in Saturday's super welterweight clash between Liam Smith and John Thompson, both fighters can put on their respective resumes that they've fought for a major title. The manner in which they've arrived to that point, however, is a tale that won't likely make the personal highlight reel for either fighter or their camps. The World Boxing Organization (WBO) was gracious enough to put its super welterweight crown at stake for Saturday's vacant title at stake in Manchester, England. The belt became available after the sanctioning body stripped its previous claimant, Demetrius Andrade for failure to defend in a timely manner. It also became available for Smith and Thompson after what was described by the WBO as "an oversight" that magically dropped previously ranked Austin Trout from the ratings long enough to not get the opportunity at a second title reign.

It's a violation of the first ********* to prevent someone from stating who they believe the best is and giving them an award to express their belief.

So any such language would never hold up in court.

But please quote for us the passage you're referring to. Thank you.

Top Rank has been thinking about ESPN for a lot longer than two years. Their #1 goal in suing Haymon was to get the ESPN exclusivity removed. Trout's WBO suit was filed a few months after Top Rank's PBC suit. This has already been explained to you. You're being purposely ignorant.

Stop pretending to be so ****** in every post. We know exactly what you're doing. As has already been explained to you, even when litigation is your only recourse, that doesn't mean litigation is financially feasible or wise.

So like most fighters screwed by a sanctioning body, you just have to eat it.

But in this instance, Trout has a benefactor with great reason to want to see the WBO eliminated. So Trout will be able to fight this until the end in an effort to sink the WBO. Most fighters are not in a position to spend millions to put a sanctioning body out of business.

That's not true. In their Hollywood reporter interview Arum said he was looking at several different choices when he was contacted last year.

What Arum didn't tell Emanuel was that Top Rank — working with CAA's Nick Khan and Evolution Media Capital's Alan Gold, who runs the sports rights division of the investment bank that is partly owned by CAA — already had taken a series of meetings with potential suitors (NBC, Fox and Amazon) and was a month into a courtship with Disney's ESPN.
The Disney-owned network locks in Bob Arum's library to fuel its upstart digital service as traditional fighting takes aim at Ari Emanuel's UFC beyond the big Mayweather-McGregor bout.

And even if Arum was eyeing ESPN for a while how would Haymon know Arum plans when this lawsuit was filed 2 years ago? You're making up conspiracy theories

We're very glad that you posted the above. It is a perfect example of the flaws of your analysis. Your "proof" of Arum's private secret intentions is a public statement.

Promoters lie. Arum's job is to be a professional liar. If you choose to take his public interviews at face value, that is your choice. But this discussion is a waste of time. Al Haymon doesn't give interviews and Arum knows how to play the media like a fiddle. So if what you're interested in is for either of them to publicly spell out their plans years in advance, it's not going to happen. Believe whatever you desire.

Because Haymon has eyes and ears everywhere and when Arum's stepson was searching for VC, the business plan ended up in enough hands that Haymon had a pretty good idea of what Arum was up to.
