That's how the WBC was created. All the countries around the world joined together to create a non-profit central sanctioning body.

The problem was that the United States could never agree on a champion. The New York commission title was the most prestigious, but the commissions of several other states formed the NBA (which became the WBA). The New York title was merged with the WBC title, but the other US states continued separately from the rest of the world.

That is why we had two titles. The smaller US states weren't willing to join New York and the rest of the world.

Now we have four titles because the WBA split off into three groups (WBA, IBF and WBO).

But what you're suggesting is what the WBC has always been.

It's a little more complicated than that.

The IBU was formed in 1910, the NBA was formed in 1921 and the NYSAC started crowning a champion in 1922.

The NBA reorganized in 1962 and became the WBA, but continued to claim the NBA history, which is how they try to justify being labeled as the oldest organization.

But the WBC was founded by many organizations, some of which pre-date the WBA. The IBU became the EBU in 1946 and is one of the founders of the WBC. The NYSAC ended up joining the WBC as well.

So the WBC title has the history of the IBU/NYSAC, while the WBA has the history of the NBA.

But with the IBU tracing back to 1910, that makes the EBU the oldest, and the EBU is a WBC founder and one of their continental federations. Making the WBC the real world championship by virtue of the IBU & NYSAC lineage.
