Some suspect that the unbeaten middleweight champion’s performance against Jacobs was as much an indication that he’s not the same fighter he was a few years ago as much as it was a testament to Jacobs’ ability to make their fight difficult for Golovkin.

Only by people who want to have their excuse ready if Canelo beats GGG. It damn sure wasn't an issue when he destroyed Monroe, Wade, and Lemieux. He struggled with two elite opponents and the Canelo fight got made and now all of a sudden he's old.

Golovkin may not be prime but he's still the menacing fighter he's always been. The thing is he's fighting stiffer competition now in Brooks and Jacobs. But yes that's one stat I was looking at a while back, the fact that GGG doesn't have as much wear and tear as Canelo does.
