Just on the first two, there is little doubt that Canelo is going to get hit harder than he's ever been hit before, and its difficult to say he's going to hit Golovkin harder than any/all-of Lemoo, Jacobs etc. Canelo's hand speed may mean he lands more than the others though, but he's going to have to ride out some of the biggest hits he's ever taken.
edit. if he didn't ko Chavez, Chavez's face would have been badly busted up at a minimum.Last edited by angkag; 08-29-2017, 04:43 PM.Comment

That's not a fact, that's your opinion and it's an uneducated one.
A fact is that he broke a guys face. That's not some freak accident. That's as much of a KO as if he put him to sleep. And it's not like but for the stoppage Brook had a shot to win, he was totally done by round 5, just soaking up punishment with his arms down.
Facts are 4th round knock down, outhitting Jacobs, never being hurt, winning on all three score cards, and Jacobs face swelling badly after the fight. I give huge credit to Jacobs but him looking good doesn't mean Golovkin looked bad.Comment

Just watched the clip where Cotto wobbled Canelo. Firstly, if Cotto can wobble him, Golovkin sure can, but more seriously, Canelo didn't clinch when he was in trouble and stood and traded instead. That will be deadly if he gets wobbled by Golovkin as any follow-up punch landed by Golovkin could finish it.Comment

Great point. When do you ever see Canelo clinch? Never! If Brook hadn't clinched he'd have been KO'd round 1.Just watched the clip where Cotto wobbled Canelo. Canelo is going to have to show a new side to his game to avoid getting badly hurt IMO. Maybe he's going to fight fire with fire...Comment

So...every fighter who gets a broken orbital bone is suddenly a loser by KO?That's not a fact, that's your opinion and it's an uneducated one.

I always consider the power situation based on the science of punch choice/style/chin/accuracy create a set of dynamics that in a fight are not always predictable because in a fight, a guy who is not known to hit as hard can suddenly be the bigger puncher based on those dynamics. An example. Many thought because Merroquin seriously stunned Rigo twice that this meant Donaire was going to practically kill him. That didnt happen. Preparation for the bigger fight which is what Rigo did for Donaire, was clearly to be aware of the power, the styles, the way Donaire couldnt land as well, and the type of punches changed the overall dynamics. Same with Jacobs, who was knocked out a few years back, was not knocked out like people thought would happen against GGG. So many dynamics and variables - yet people still try to use part of the science to predict what will happen. Its like timing beats speed and power, power can beat speed and timing, and speed can rule both or one of those as well, which means sometimes one of those is greater and a fight becomes a rock/paper/scissors scenario. Anything can happen.Comment
