Lotta Floydie fans certainly have stacks of venom for Marciano... a fighter very very few of them even saw fighting. They haven't read up on him, didn't keep up with the boxing publications back then, at the most saw a few clips online. They have no clue besides that and maybe glancing at Boxrec and seeing practically no opponents names they even recognize. This is a thread with 95% plus of the replies coming from people who are clueless about the subject. When, if they'd did some actual, unbiased, involved research... they'd see that Rocky was a way different fighter in a completely different age than Floydie. Marciano flat out went after his opponents, was very aggressive throughout the fight, and had murderous punching power. And never weighed above 193. Granted HWs were lighter than today, but still Rocky flattened a bunch of fighters and out-slicked them at their own game.... never worrying about 'safety first'.... and taking on all comers. And, his biggest back and forth battles were in his final 10-15 fights. Compare that to Floydie, and his record pales in comparison to Rockys.
NSAC is obviously in Floydies back pocket, which I guess is good work if you can get it... and still look yourself in the mirror afterwards. But still, I'm among a big group who will always see this is being just a glorified exhibition match and absolutely nothing more. And the goofballs who scream 'call the waaambulance' and 'a win is a win' are just full of crapola and always will be. Nothing will ever change their biased opinions. No worries, life goes on.
