He wouldn't fight GGG the same way he fought Conor, but I think we saw enough Slippage from Floyd on Saturday that I would pick GGG to beat him now. In fact, IMO any top ww, let alonea MW, would've defeated the Floyd we saw on Sat night.

Floyd for all the BS hes done through the years is LEAGUES ahead of GGG in the sport of boxing , and thats just how it is , if GGG takes Canelo to school it will raise his profile for sure , but Floyd is on a different scale , GGG will not be able to match him unless he really goes for greatness and start looking for the real career defining fights (Canelo and Jacobs are the only ones that comes to mind and one of them was a VERY competitive fight while the other has not taken place yet).

I agree that GGG fans shouldn't worry about Mayweather. Any remote chance of this fight happening past many years ago. I can't disagree that Floyd would be the favorite if they were P4P equivalents but who knows. I think Golovkin is P4P better than Castillo and Maidana and whatever you think (especially Castillo) those guys in fight one gave Floyd everything he could handle.

No Golovkin will never be able to match Floyd's status. Floyd is great but also has benefited tremendously from the status of his competition. Even though few of these guys were at their prime or even near their prime they had big name recognition (DLH, Cotto, Pac, Canelo, Hatton, Gatti (B level fighter), Mosley, JMM and the biggest farce McGregor). Floyd is a great fighter but he has been very lucky who he has been able to face. Golovkin, Ward and most boxers in a career will never be dealt that kind of hand. Sugar Ray probably closest but damn he was fighting other greats in their prime or near it.

Golovkin was dealt a hand that always put him behind the 8 ball, the was being a guy from Kazakhstan. If he had been born in the States or in Mexico he wouldn't be 35 years old waiting for this level of fight, he'd have had it long ago.

I don't think he will, 168lbs is his max IMO. He simply isn't big enough to go to 175lbs and be effective IMO. Hopkins is bigger than Golovkin and could handle high weight classes easier.

He is in the middleweight division, one of the most storied divisions in boxing history. The guy started in Kazahstan which I know most of you never heard of let alone knew it was a country. He went to Europe and when it didn't work the way he wanted he left there and came to America. Golovkin has done more to try and prove himself than most fighters ever do.

You need two to tango and unfortunately some of the big name partners didn't want to tango. Most reasonable people in boxing know this wasn't due to Golovkin it was due to his opposition in the MW division.

So the knock of course is that he didn't vacate the division, before beating the best in the division and giving up all the money fights to face Ward. Of course the Ward cry babies always fail to mention that Golovkin said anyone from 154-168 in 2012. Ward had his own issues at this time and was not available to fight.I never said Ward was "ducking" him. I'm sure some Golovkin fans did and that was dumb IMO. It wasn't until 3 years later that Ward came calling out Golovkin. Of course when Ward had no real attractive options on the table and fighting above 168lbs. He was also known to be tough to deal with. There would have been serious issue in negotiations I think. Of course this also just happened to be the same time his promo stablemate Cotto was getting tremendous pressure to fight GOlovkin.

So basically Golovkin was supposed to throw away his chance to finally get the big name fights in one of the most prestigious divisions in boxing and where he fought his whole professional career (and where the big paydays were) to set up a fight against a guy who wasn't at 168lbs and known to be incredibly difficult to deal with. Yeah that makes no sense and would border on ******ation to think that made any sense.

He would have been one of the greatest Middleweights by skipping the division without fully being acknowledged as the best? Okay that makes zero sense.

Other than Canelo there is no one Golovkin could have faced, including Ward, that would have brought the same types of pay days that Floyd has got. He's been super good and super fortunate to have big name fighters around his division. That just doesn't happen generally from 160 and above.

You can be successful coming from anywhere, Golovkin is proving that. But it is much more difficult from certain places. There is also no significant Kazah community like there is Filipinos in the US (I'm right down the street from one of the biggest communities in LA). Also, Pac shocked people. He didn't blow up until he destroyed Barerra. Not many people knew who he was. I don't think that fight happens if Barerra had suspected how good Pac really was. Pac came in under the radar which got him a big fight. It just takes one big victory and then you are on the stage. I think that is what Golovkin has missed and was robbed of. Had he faced Martinez years ago or Cotto thinks would look a lot different. But he didn't come in under the radar like Pac.

Hopkins heard the same BS until he knocked out Tito. That was when he finally got his due. This is Golovkin's chance, we'll see.

yeah there is so much to hate. The guy started out in a dump of country and made it to America to fulfill a dream. He has stayed in the same division, one of the most storied in boxing history, and tried to capture all the titles. Excluding his last fight he has KO'd every one of his opponents. He fights an exciting style. The only reason he hasn't got a chance to solidify the division was because Martinez, Cotto, Canelo (until now) avoided him.

Hey if you think his skills are just above average that's on you. I think your ability to evaluate skills is poor to terrible. I think if you were in a group of boxing people; fighters and trainers you'be laughed at, of course that's just my opinion.
