Comments Thread For: Gervonta Davis: Lomachenko Fight Won't Make My Career

LAS VEGAS Gervonta Davis and his promoter, Floyd Mayweather Jr., have been unapologetic about refusing to consider a fight against Vasyl Lomachenko just yet. Mayweather has made it clear that the fast-developing Davis won't pursue a 130-pound title unification fight against Lomachenko any time soon. If it never happens, the 22-year-old Davis doesn't think it'll adversely affect his career.

It's clear Davis wants no part of Loma! Most fighters would claim they want to fight the best guys when doing interviews but Davis is not saying he wants to fight any of the top guys especially Loma. The IBF rankings for 130 are terrible so Davis should be ok with his mado's.

Don't expect Davis to fight any competition over the next few years. I think people need to move on because Davis & Floyd have clearly stated they want no part of Loma.

It's sad how far they're going to justify the duck. And yeah, it will DEFINITELY affect his career if he keeps talking like this.

of course it will negatively affect his career. loma will be in or near his weight class for the rest of his career the media and fans will always be there demanding him to fight lomachenko. team gayweather will never hear the end of it. they think he can be a superstar? he'll have to fight and BEAT lomachenko first! what a shame it seems like davis knows he'll lose to lomachenko. he's already accepted defeat

This fool is already ducking Loma. He's willing to unify with Berchelt and Corrales but not Loma... What a ****ing clown! He's basically admitting Loma would beat his ass!
What a punk! I hope he signs up to fight Berchelt. Berchelt would beat his ass too!
Gervonta, be careful what you wish for boy!

It's not a duck, he's just not ready for Loma. How many times have you heard a guy say "give me 2 or 3 more fights and I'll be ready"? Just like Loma is not ready for Crawford. He says nobody from 140 down can beat him but he's not asking for that fight. He's asking for Rigo, which is still a good fight, but in the spirit of this topic. Why isn't he begging Arum to fight Crawford? He's not ready!

This kid is a farce. If your not 'ready' to fight select fighters in your own freakn weight-class then you should have stayed in the amateurs, period; Or at the VERY LEAST drop the belt. Kid is lame
