You guys are so ******. This will be a massive event. Casinos hold back about half of the tickets for High Rollers and High Membership people. These do not get reported until after the fight. Also the ticket cost for this fight surpasses that of May-Pac. The PPV will destroy that. So many people that don't talk about boxing are talking about boxing, add that to the casual fans that watch these type of events, and Hardcore fans that will bend the pocket book last minute because it at the end of the day is a boxing event and the curiosity of what McGregor is going to do to a 40 yr old Floyd. Only sour ass hard cores will complain.Comment

3.7 millions according to LA Times. More than any gate Ward made.
We know gate revenue at @TheGarden was $3.7 million, higher than $2 million for Lemieux, that @GGGBoxing merchandise, sponsors also higher.

Still, let's do the dance here; Cotto-Margarito 2 is a fight that we know the numbers for (~17,900 tickets sold, a gate that was just over $3m, priced $600-$50) and, in confirming what I've just written, I also found some of the numbers from Cotto-Martinez (~$4.7m gate, $750-$50, unsure of the tickets sold), both fights held at MSG.
Golovkin-Jacobs had a ticket price strata of $1000-$100. Again, the numbers don't make sense, which is likely why nothing ever gets fully confirmed by anyone but Loeffler.
Lance Pugmire is a quality writer; if he's putting his name behind it, I'm fairly certain that he's done the legwork to confirm the info as best as possible. The gate for Golovkin-Jacobs was likely $3.7m (NYSAC didn't put anything out formally, but will stand on Pugmire's reputation).
Assuming the gate is accurate, there's no way that 20k tickets were sold $1000-$100; with the Cotto fights at the same building as reference, the actual tickets sold may be half what Loeffler has been pushing.
Spin it however you want, but remember that people will checkLast edited by Scipio2009; 08-23-2017, 02:58 PM.Comment

That maybe so; Golovkin and Ward are clearly of similar starpower at this point, with the main difference that Ward has far more upside if we're honest about it.

Attendance = 19901. Doesn't specify paid attendance.
Remember your threads about "plenty of tickets left" for Golovkin Jacobs? fool.

Messes up the image you're trying to push, but at least that example would be closer to the actual reality.Comment

No one is talking about 8m homes, but 3m seemed to have been the easy floor, and now the floor on the fight may end up being 4m homes. lol, indeed.Comment

Emm, no. Golovkin sells more. And he's not even from the US.

We have no idea what the paid attendance has been for a single Golovkin fight, because Golovkin's camp knows that he sells far fewer actual tickets than he's had folks believing.
And if you want to use Glaser's numbers don't flip flop about it; Glaser has already publicly written that Golovkin-Lemieux drew worse than Ward-Kovalev 2, with Golovkin-Jacobs hardly doing any better (ignoring the fact that Ward-Kovalev 2 was at a higher price point than Golovkin-Lemieux and Golovkin-Jacobs). lolComment

We know the actual gate and paid attendance numbers for Ward's fights, because the Nevada commission and Ward's camp have made that available.
