  • Comments Thread For: Retirement Crosses Canelo's Mind, But Not Ready to Walk Away

Canelo Alvarez has 51 fights on his professional record, an unusually high number for a boxer who only recently turned 27 years old. Alvarez made his pro debut when he was just 15 in his native Mexico, which makes him already a veteran of 11-plus years, typically the time when fighters at least begin thinking about retirement. The two-division champion admitted on a recent conference call that despite his young age, he has thought about when he'd like to retire.

LOL wanna retire in your prime? I get this. He might do a mayweather since he is surrounded by killers in his division. He can't look up and he cant look down.

gotta retire for 2 years and wait for everybody to beat each other then take Keith Thurman from the welterweight division and beat him. Gotta follow his mentor.

This guy would be egotistical enough to retire in his 20s.

So Oscar retired at 36, and wasn't the same for awhile before that, and Canelo plans to retire at 34, yet they waited until GGG was 35 until they fought him.

Such bull****. That's why I'm not as excited for this fight anymore. Only if GGG looks spectacular again will I believe he still has a legacy run in him at 168 or 175, but in all honesty, that should have happened years ago, after the Canelo fight, which should have also happened years ago.

But, this is why boxing is broken.

I mean the goal is to make as much money and walk away before you start stuttering: who can sell out Cowboy stadium vs. a euro-bum? young rich and flashy with money to burn baby! these bums can spend a lifetime in this sport ( like GGG ) and never accomplish what Alvarez has done

-- I kinda feel sorry for our favorite Mexican red-headed amigo, just think he was fighting grown men in his teens and now you all mistreat him like this? he deserves to walk away hes earned every penny! in what physical condition would you find yourself in if you started fighting grown men as a adolescent? **** these haters Canelo, I salute you.
