Dana White doesn't let fights marinate, and his buy rates are pretty much guaranteed to be better than ODH's. No one wants to spend years waiting for 2 guys to fight each other.

Should have happened in September 2016 really. There was really no reason for Canelo to move down to fight Liam Smith only to move back up, one of the most pointless moves in recent times. Similarly, there was no reason for Golovkin to fight Brook apart from money, which would be nothing compared to what he'd make fighting Canelo.

We know Canelo's team didn't want it then. I'm not even that sure they want it now but nobody was going to swallow the excuses any longer. They had nowhere left to run.

At least it's only a year late though, could be worse.

They could of also took the flat fee they rejected. Or went down to 154 but GGG didnt want a CW or to move down.

IMO i think he fought Smith so he would be Saunders mandatory. Which he became once he won the belt.

A REAL boxing match

People on here can go back and forth all they want, but if you like canelo or GGG or hate either OR are just a fan of boxing then this is a great fight to see. Its a very 50/50 match up, with skill heavily weighing towards Canelo & power heavily weighing towards GGG. I am personally a slightly bigger fan of GGG so I hope he wins BUT Canelo really does have a heavy skill set and should probably win in what I have been seeing. The only way I would say GGG destroys Canelo is if he jabs a lot... Which I doubt will happen

Oh wait too late,your already crying that ggg had to actually fight someone for once with his old ass,you claim "couple of tough fights" lol,so a welterweight glass skull counts now as tough fight? Hes had literally 1 single tough fight in his career,Jacobs who he was forced 2 fight & who he negotiated 4 many mos even delaying purse bid BECAUSE he seen him as nothing but a glassjaw. And you claim "waited til gg got lil older" it was literally a few mos. after canelo vacated that they signed to fight,but to pathetic nutthuggers that counts as aging someone. To you ggg is a god yet apparently him finally fighting someone good,& aging a few mos means he went from superman to ed burns. Admit it you are just 1 more who wishes your dream came true of ggg fighting bums ENTIRE career & canelo never fighting him. Canelo called Golovkin to the ring after he KO'd Khan, in May 2016 & said he'd fight him. Before the end of that same month, he handed over his WBC belt rather than fight the man he publicly called out. 15 months later or 3 months shy of 1.5 years later, they are fighting. I'm a fight fan, not a Golovkin employee. I want to see him fight the best. Brook stepped up when Ginger wouldn't. Clownelo & Oscar waited for Golovkin to age & show some vulnerability. It's a shame you can't see that. After Golovkin beats your hero, I'll enjoy the sweet silence of you vanishing from these threads on the subject.

That's a two way street. If Canelo wins is your excuse going to be he aged GGG??? Remind me how many weight classes GGG has fought at??? This is Canelos 4th one. Not bad at all IMO. GGG could of had some GREAT fights at 168 but he chose to stay at MW. To fight the Monroe's and house arrest Wades...

this is not canelos 4th weight class. he started at 147 and was bearly there for a few years and never even won a title. this is his 3rd weight class if you want to be fair
