If I was Conor, a boxing novice, and I got permanently ****ed up in a fight against a 49-0 professional that they commissioned with 8oz gloves that they allowed, I'd take them to the cleaners. And I'd win.
This is a fight both agreed to, with risks that both are aware of. And both men want the glove size to be 8oz. So no, Conor wouldn't have a case, nor do you have any good reason to think that two 154-pounders wearing gloves two less ounces is gonna strongly increase the health risks of both men.

Its weird because he is fighting Mayweather. We all know Floyd's going to be content hitting Conor with a jab then avoiding any action to win rounds

Conor fights guys who use elbows, knees, and all that ****. Floyd pillow punches and gonna do nothing

But you don't have any proof to think that it won't.

Could you argue that to a jury successfully? Could you argue that Conor, as a complete novice, was totally and wholly aware of the risks? Surely that's the job of the NSAC, to keep him safe.

Look, I'm just playing devil's advocate here. I know the score and so do you. But the fact is, it doesn't matter if Conor agreed to it or not. The point of the NSAC is that they are there to implement rules and regulations that safeguard and protect the welfare of fighters. Otherwise anyone could fight anyone, gloves or no gloves, at any weight, just because they want to.

Simply by saying 'well they agreed to it' is not a defence to negligence.

I'm just saying, try and convince a jury that the totally random one-off waiver you signed that allowed these fighters to wear 8oz gloves had absolutely no bearing on the fact the first-time boxer ended up with brain damage. You'd get torn apart by a decent lawyer.

Will it happen? Hopefully not. It's not likely, and I don't think 8oz would make a difference if it was to happen. But the scenario above will absolutely feature in NSAC's decision making process.

They need to have a huge meeting to discuss a 2 ounce variance in gloves.
What a difficult job these guys have...

Gloves size doesn't matter, it's actually more advantageous for McGregor to be in a larger ounce glove and pick a non punchers glove for more surface area to protect himself imho...........

And if MMA rejects want to hit us boxing fans with "Oh he would have KOed him if it was in 8ounce" just kindly point them to the youtube Sports Science clip that 100% debunks that ignorant claim. There is literally hardly any noticeable difference in punching power regardless of what size gloves you have on, especially 2 ounces........be smarter than these morons
