Faster KO with 8 ounce gloves than 10 ounce, different UD vs KO odds, rds before a KD, etc.
Hadn't thought of that, NGCB is on the line if one little thing gets screwed up in this EVENT and yes it could, but won't effect the outcome.

Size may be the only thing that saves him. We dont really know how big he'll be though.

Could you argue that to a jury successfully? Could you argue that Conor, as a complete novice, was totally and wholly aware of the risks? Surely that's the job of the NSAC, to keep him safe.

Look, I'm just playing devil's advocate here. I know the score and so do you. But the fact is, it doesn't matter if Conor agreed to it or not. The point of the NSAC is that they are there to implement rules and regulations that safeguard and protect the welfare of fighters. Otherwise anyone could fight anyone, gloves or no gloves, at any weight, just because they want to.

Simply by saying 'well they agreed to it' is not a defence to negligence.

I'm just saying, try and convince a jury that the totally random one-off waiver you signed that allowed these fighters to wear 8oz gloves had absolutely no bearing on the fact the first-time boxer ended up with brain damage. You'd get torn apart by a decent lawyer.

Will it happen? Hopefully not. It's not likely, and I don't think 8oz would make a difference if it was to happen. But the scenario above will absolutely feature in NSAC's decision making process.
They use 4oz gloves in UFC

Totally agree, 8 oz gloves are pointless in the eyes of the NSAC. There's regulations for weight and glove size for a reason, and this is a boxing match, not UFC match. They shouldn't change the rules for anyone here just because of the size of the event. Its a safety issue before, and why wouldn't it be even more of a safety issue now, since there's a fighter who's fighting his first fight in the boxing ring. Yes, he's use to 4 oz gloves but that's a different sport. A sport one might argue has more contact yes, but nonetheless a different sport. You can't change this regulation today and then say its not okay for other boxers tomorrow. Stick by your rules and regulations. If you're going to start to bend these rules, they'll eventually start to break.

They have already broke the rules IMO by allowing a guy that has never boxed professionally In his life to fight a guy who Is a five division world champion and has 49 professional fights. How many other fights would the commission allow with this type of discrepancy In experience?

That's why I don't see that 8oz gloves will be a problem unless, Floyd actually told NSAC it's just fake bravado so don't allow it pls.
