A couple of pie charts and graphs from Bloody Elbow doesn't support jack **** man. If you're going to try and get academic you're going to need real sources with real breakdowns.

If the Ferrita's are selling, they know better than anyone when to cash out.
    Oh okay...
But your list of a few PPV estimates *proves* everything that you're claiming?!

    What are you doing exactly?
Is this about you resenting MMA or something?

This is not difficult to understand... the UFC has been less and less dependent on PPV buys, in that they've been adding revenue sources; TV contracts, sponsorship, subscription service, etc.

WME was on a shopping spree. They likely overpaid for the UFC. They were even considering buying Formula-1 at $8 billion. Great timing by the Fertittas. But that doesn't suggest that MMA is dying or that the UFC is about to crumble.

BTW, I've pointed these things out myself... the UFC does not know how to create/build "stars" (which is what drives PPV buys). They've been fortunate that Ronda's and Conor's have come along. Without the stars, 300,000 buys is a reasonable number for a UFC PPV.

And as much as anything, the possibility of a Fighters' Union looms over the UFC/MMA.

    But again, there's no "coffin."

the ufc will suffer as a result of this fight. casuals genuinely think mcgregor can win. when he gets battered they are going to think, 'oh maybe ufc isnt that good after all'. whatever way people look at it its not a good look to lose a fight badly, and there poster boy is just about to do that.

How will the UFC suffer when Conor loses?

The reality is UFC poster boy is usually some employee of the year type sh^t & guys come & go all the time. Royce, Shamrock, Tito, Couture, Liddell, GSP, Spider, BJ Penn, Lesnar, Bones, Weidman, Ronda & Conor have all probably been that for the UFC since 1993 which equals out to a new face of UFC every other year. Conor's on flimsy ground already & its a solid bet he loses to Tony Ferguson or Kevin Lee who are fighting to fight Conor when he comes back. Both guys WILL submit Conor if they can take him down so if Conor loses in the boxing ring or the cage his time is coming to its end anyway. The UFC ******** that he can beat a 40 year old who's not fought in two years or at least give a decent account of himself isn't a bad move at all those things considered.

i think it will be a while before another fighter as marketable as mcgregor comes along and its going to hurt that brand if there flagship fighter gets a hiding. Especially with social media, all the gifs, memes that will arise of him getting clowned. casuals (and many on here actually) dont seem to appreciate the differences between the sports, they see a fight as a fight, and whilst its frustrating to see casuals giving him a great chance of winning, conversely when its all said and done they are then going to think that its a legitimate loss and that UFC fighters arent that skilled. Mcgregor pulls in a lot of money for them and the aura and mystique of him as a fighter will be gone after this fight.

Jones vs cormier 2 did 850k......

As to your question, he has to dominate/embarrass Conor for it to have any impact on the UFC. Winning 7-5 or 8-4 would be seen as an embarrassment for mayweather.

That already happened to the one guy with a higher PPV average buy rate than Conor.

Jon Jones just moved into the 3rd biggest PPV draw in MMA history passing over Conor. GSP, the biggest draw in MMA history, is about to comeback later this year. And there are always guys on the rise. If Conor gets embarrassed it will have little bearing on the UFC, most notably cuz MMA fans don't care about L's in particular L's in other sports, but more importantly cuz the UFC doesn't operate like boxing does with keeping names afloat for as long as possible.

Boxing fans don't seem to grasp that. The guard changes all the time in MMA. Dana is damn near going out of his way getting people beat. Matter of fact last year I believe 70% of the title holders at the beginning of the year had lost their title by the end of the year.

MMA is a different animal. Its about competition not faces. New faces keep coming up all the time.

isnt the pay per view numbers just america?

people all over the world pay to have it on there tv license.

theres lots of countries, each country pays to have it on there cable, satellite whatever,

thats a lot of money. hatton picked up a hell of a lot of monet maybe cause of uk fans.

both could survive with just usa and uk alone probably.

Sorry, it's apparent now that you fail to meet the minimum IQ requirement to continue the discussion.
