  • Comments Thread For: McGregor's Coach: Conor Even Beats Mayweather of 10 Years Ago!

Owen Roddy, the striking coach of UFC superstar Conor McGregor, believes his fighter would defeat any version of Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26 KOs). On August 26th, McGregor will make his professional boxing debut against Mayweather at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He won't be facing the Mayweather of year's past. He'll be facing a 40-year-old Mayweather who is coming off a two year retirement.

He sounds like an absolute douchebag.

To be honest, if that's the lack of insight they have on a fighter of Mayweather's quality, no wonder they're not impressed and no wonder they expect to win.

It's like trying to explain physics to a dog, they just lack the capacity to understand what they are seeing.

To them, why wouldn't Conor just walk up to him and hit him straight in the face and knock him out? It's easy! He's tiny and frail! It's half a fight! And that's all they identify with.

I can't wait to see Conor get fatigued after hitting thin air and stumble back to his corner wondering what the hell is going on.

10 yrs ago Floyd beat Oscar & Ricky Hatton. And Manny beat Oscar 1 yr later in 2008 and Hatton 2 yrs later in 2009 along with Cotto that yr. Yea, I have Conor beating all 4 of them too & Floyd...oh, just a point of reference; Paulie lost the super lightweight title to Cotto going the distance in 2006, and then won it in 2007...we tell our kids to dream big everyday; it's ok-lol

I think Connor will feel like a bull when he first comes out and it could be a bit ugly as Floyd will probably tie him up, you watch Connors face the moment he feels Floyds snap and sharpness and in 8oz gloves, these people don't realize Floyd is the real deal.

Very sad stuff, Floyd has to shame this clown just so the fanboys disappear. Nothing worse than hearing Skip, Rogan and Schaub talk boxing.

I think one thing that Conor will be shocked by is Floyd's speed. Robert Guerrero said it shocked him at how fast Floyd was. Even at 40, Floyd is blindingly fast compared to Conor.
