Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Canelo-Golovkin Biggest Fight in Middleweight History

Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin is unquestionably big even among some of the most significant fights in middleweight championship history. Oscar De La Hoya, a former middleweight champion whose company promotes Alvarez, went as far Tuesday as to call the Alvarez-Golovkin fight "the biggest probably" in middleweight history.

Maybe in terms of PPV numbers but not the biggest. I'd say Hopkins-Trinidad was a bigger fight (though it didn't get the same type of media coverage especially after 9/11), Haglar-Hearns, Haglar-Leonard.

Hagler v hearns , Lamotta v Robinson the list goes on .Oscar is an apprentice Arum but he's embarrassing.

It's a good fight correct but they always have to be overstated by the idiots.

This is a big fight, but not that damn big! If it was what Oscar thinks it is, it wouldn't be drowned out by Mayweather vs. McGregor! This is NOT Leonard vs. Hagler, and I'm not sure it's much bigger than Hopkins vs. De La Hoya!

I know he has to promote the fight but Oscar sometimes sounds like a really dumb ****.

That's the truth. The two of them are not even in possession of any belts. One is out of retirement and the other is not even a boxer.
