boxing IQ - don't think so. Golovkin has mixed up his game plans based on his opponents. Lemieux, Brook and Jacobs all fought differently. Canelo has never had to change his approach. His game plan against Mayweather was one of the worst I've ever seen, it was straight up dumb and never deviated despite losing.

Timing - about equal. Golovkin is well known to have superb timing, so while I think Golovkin is better I'll give it a draw because you have to be good if you're a good counter puncher which Canelo is.

Body work - I'll give this to Canelo but Golovkin is good to the body too. Just doesn't throw as often.

Experiencing going 12 rounds, hahaha talk about catering that to fit your guy. Overall Golovkin has a lot more experience and I'm thinking he won't need 12 rounds.

You also forgot jab (Golovkin), power (Golovkin), proven chin at MW (Golovkin).

Canelo seems to pride himself of being the superior boxer so in the triple g fight I see him doing the same and try to outbox triple g but this time he will actually have a guy who is not scared of his power, can't wait for the fight.
Canelo said going into the fight he was going to box Floyd. It was literally the dumbest plan I've seen going into a fight. His only shot was to try and make it a rough and tumble affair. He never did that. He just didn't have that mentality to change. I've yet to see Canelo alter his approach in a fight, is he capable?

Just reading this breakdown and this little triangle reminds me of Leonard, Hearns, and Hagler so much. The parallels are crazy lol

People forget Marvin got the same treatment/criticism GGG is getting now. Tommy and his team were too "green" when he fought Leonard. Leonard was always "retiring" and getting his way lol

Don't get me wrong I think those other guys were better than this modern bunch. Although Floyd trumps Marvin and Tommy imo.

Canelo fought Mayweather at catch weight that fight. I knew he was going to lose as soon as he agreed to it.

I was getting ready to mention Mora but I felt the KD was a fluke especially since he won by spectacular fashion in the rematch.

The difference between the two is Jacobs has real KO power and he can box. Canelo can box but doesn't have overwhelming power. Especially against a legit MW. Golovkin is not a slouch boxer. He looked ordinary against Jacobs but there were other factors involved. Canelo doesn't have the attributes; size, reach, or the kind of power that Jacobs had.

I want to root for Canelo but he's in a uphill battle. His past fights (struggles) against fighters with a jab, size, and reach, tells me this might not go in his direction.

                I agree with everything.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing at the time, I thought he was going to use his size and out work him but this idiot really tried to outbox him and he NEVER adjusted even though he was losing.

Canelo is the same fighter he's always been, he thinks he's a better boxer then he really is.

When you say Floyd trumps Marvin and Tommy do you mean in achievement or if they faced off? I don't see Floyd beating either guy. Marvin too big and Tommy got too much height and length.

I bet heavy in that fight. Never had a second of doubt once I heard his fight plan. I still shake my head thinking about it.
