The 1 x factor is his fight vs cotto but again, cotto was at a 10 yr age disadvantage and pretty noticeable size disadvantage. All answers will be provided with this next fight.
Losing to Floyd and absorbing his boxing skills gave him all he ever needed to defeat the great Chavez Jr.

The Canelo that fought trout would've beaten that lazy zombie version of Chavez jr that Canelo fought in may.

He got them Floyd powers after the fight. Now he has the ability to beat anyone.

Lol here we go with the whining. I'm quite sure those 2 lbs wouldve won him the fight for sure huh? Did you say the same about cotto vs Manny?

I'm not sure what he could have learned from a 12 round schooling. I don't see him boxing better than he did previously. It wasn't only Mayweather's experience that won him the fight. He does everything better than Canelo.

I'm still baffled how confident Canelo's fans are that he'll beat Golovkin. Canelo looked good against fighters he's supposed to look good against. He struggled against Trout and Lara. He did well against Cotto but he'd been shot since Margarito 1. Jacobs boxing skills have been underrated since Pirog. Canelo is not Jacobs.

I just don't see how you could say Canelo is all that different as a fighter. He was always a pretty good boxer and he may have sharpened a bit but there are some things he can't change that limit him as a boxer (like his slow feet and lack of range). He also won't throw caution to the wind because he is at his core a boxer.

None of his fights has shown he has changed much at all, he eventually got Khan which is not a hard trick but he didn't make it look effortless and easy, the Lara fight he might have edged but certainly didn't do anything to make it look convincing, even the Cotto fight where he did win clearly it is not like he put his foot on the gas when he had every advantage to really show that gap that existed between the two.

What it means for this fight I don't know because Canelo could be the better boxer than Golovkin which means he could have a good night and Canelo is not an easy guy to hurt. Golovkin is bigger and more rangy with a very high end jab which can keep Canelo from really getting in a range where he can box effectively. It is certainly an interesting fight because those questions won't be answered until they are in the ring.

I just don't see how Canelo is all that much different when I look at his performances, there might be some slight improvement and he was always a very good boxer so it is not like he had vast improvements to make. Still that last little bit of improvement that takes a guy from excellent boxer to something special is the hardest step to make and requires insane effort. Maybe he can prove he has made that elusive step to special in this fight.
