I just think its unfair to say he would of lost to them, and putting them ahead of johnson i totally disaggree, to many what if's with langfor and mcvey to say they could have beaten johnson.

if you understand that it was a business how can you say he ducked langford and mcvey? fighters he already beat. doesn't make sense to me.

possable could have been rigged, we don't know.

you say he hurt race relations, but he was allowed to live, what im saying is back then for what johnson was doing at the time... had he not been a respected boxer, he would have been killed by somone at some point in his career. and if they wanted him to loss so badly and hatted the fact that a black man is dating a white women, then surely if they thought langford or mcvey could beat johnson they would have allowed them to defeat johnson and this is what im saying...that even johnsons worst enemies didn't feel confident enough to belive langford or mcvey could beat johnson.

i know langford or mcvey weren't rich men and im sure they would have followed the then crows laws, as opposed to johnson.

im not even suggesting that johnson is the greatest fighter of all time -though he was defently ahead of his time- but he derves more respect then just sepculation that his long nemisis could of defeated him, it just doesnt make sense. but opinions are opinions.

i personally never seen even a video clip of langford, but seen a few of johnson and he was fast for a big man and wasn't no plowdder.
Okay. Now I see. You're misunderstanding me. I'm not saying Johnson couldn't have beaten Langford, McVey, and Jeanette. Personally, I think he could have. The reason I've got Langford in my "possible greatest list" is because of his accomplishments as compared to Johnson's. He beat better heavyweights in his prime than Johnson did....and he was a smaller man than Johnson.

As far as white american wanting to see McVey or Langford or Jeanette whup Johnson. Well, let's just say, from what I've read, Langford was a little more confrontational than Johnson. And...for White America at that time....no "colored fighter" should be World Champ....which is why the whole "Great White Hope Campaign" was begun in the first place: to bring the title "home".

              See?

Oh, one more thing before I go.

Famous Johnson quote after Ketchel: "He crossed me, and I made him pay!" The "rigging of that fight" is pretty broadly accepted. You can see Johnson holding Stanley up on several occasions after catching him good. How else is a middleweight going to go 12 rounds with a heavyweight....thing about the weight difference. It would have been like putting Jermain Taylor, or Joe Calzaghe in the ring with Hasim Rahman....if Rahman were as good as Johnson.

Ray Leonard vs Mike Tyson was always my favorite way of describing it.

                Anyway, Peace..I'm out.

You tyson nuthuggers amuse the hell out of me. To be an all time great you have to have some heart. Tyson had none. Every time he fought anybody that was even a decent heavyweight that came after him ,he either QUIT or got KTFO! Boy, he looked great against guys like Steve Zouski didnt he? Go ask a True warrior like Holyfield how big and bad Mike Tyson was. Alltime great. What a F*%king Joke!
