Is there a specific reason BoxingScene is so obsessed with Malignaggi?

Every time this dude farts there's a new article and thread about it.

Scariest part is, this is a rusty Paulie who hasn't sparred in what--months? Hasn't been in training for a fight, comes to town off a flight and gets in the ring an hour later with a guy who's been in training for 2 months straight and STILL gets the better of Conor?! There is 3 weeks until the fight. Mayweather is going to embarrass this cat.

I started looking through the other (very) few of the pics released from their sparring, and noticed how Paulie had a gut on him and Conor was all shredded and Paulie is STILL kicking this guy's butt?! Then Conor's coach said the other day, "Conor isn't getting touched in sparring!" And I was thinking, well, then you've got the wrong sparring partners. Mayweather had Eubank Jr. flown in last week. You know Eubank is bigger and will push him. They must be surrounding McGregor with C level guys to keep his confidence up. Paulie was probably a bad idea for them.

I have to say my opinion of McGregor has changed. Throughout the course of this Mayweather promotion he's been exposed as a punk in some ways.

Paulie is a drama queen regardless but I believe him for the most part.

Paulie was a great addition to that camp as an advisor..... but, guess what..... those fcuker's don't even have a traditional boxing coach, so Malignaggi's world-class knowledge/advice, will never even get off the ground

he was literally no help whatsoever, because Conor is doing things his way

Funniest part about all of this is the MMA fans who become experts all of a sudden. I went and checked out the comments to a couple of Malignaggi fights on YouTube and they are flooded with MMA fans who just watched him for the first time.

Paulie is finally a cross-over star

paulie's an honest and likable guy. mcgregor definitely picked him for the right reasons, he's not a big puncher, out of shape, but has a million tricks in his arsenal and will show you a lot of things an MMA guy can't show you, or even a younger and less experienced professional boxer who is fresh and has more talent.

i'm hoping some real footage comes out and it shows mcgregor getting beat up.

but, those things would only be beneficial to Conor if he was using Paulie as a traditional sparring partner

I don't think Conor ever intended to use Paulie for information/tactics, he wanted to beat Malignaggi up for cheap publicity

a non-active fighter doing 12-rounds after jumping off a long flight?..... why didn't they split the sparring, and give Conor some different looks against fresher guys?

what is the point in sparring a guy who is " done ".... ?

you get him out of there, and put someone in there who adds some value

now..... they will not release the video, but will release a couple of "convenient" photo's??

I am absolutely positive that the sparring was close/competitive for a few rounds, just like Malignaggi said..... but then he took over after finding his groove and Conor lost a little energy..... only for McGregor to get his second wind and come on late putting it on Paulie in those last two rounds
