I also think Canelo has what it takes to beat him but that's another story.
Did anyone really believe Golovkin couldn't be beaten? I'm not talking about fanatics. Every boxer is beatable. You could say the same about Mayweather and Ward, since they've been guys on top of the p4p list.

Golovkin has been carefully matched how so? That's total crap IMO. The guy has been in the middleweight division for years now and avoided no one. He's been the avoided fighter. Did he avoid Martinez, nope. Did he avoid Cotto (who was the lineal champion), nope. Did he avoid Canelo was the lineal champion, nope. He fought Jacobs and Lemieux. He chased Saunders around until he had to choose to make the Canelo fight. He was ready to fight Eubanks until he backed out. Where's the "carefully" matched?

I'm sure it is about Ward which has been explained 2 million times. When Golovkin made that comment in 2012 he was pretty desperate for a fight. Ward had his own issues and was basically inactive. Sure Golovkin said he'd drop to 154lbs to fight Mayweather. Who the f wouldn't? Millions of dollars and the recognized p4p best that was a no brainer. I don't blame Mayweather for that fight not happening. Frankly Golovkin is too big for Mayweather.

When Ward came back off his layoff he was looking for a fight and then called out Golovkin. But by this time Golovkin was in position to get his big fights and make money. Plus there was so much uncertainty with Ward anyway. He probably wasn't going to make 168lbs and Ward was known to be a tough guy to negotiate with. Those negotiations could have been down right terrible. Look what Kovalev made in the 2nd fight and Golovkin had much more going for him than Kovalev.

Golovkin made the right decision for his career it was a no brainer. I don't blame either guy that this fight didn't happen. Had Golovkin solidified the title a few years before against Martinez maybe things could have worked out but he couldn't.

Since it seems you're new here, there are quite a few people that believe he's unbeatable. Apparently Provodnikov thinks the same thing.

      Didn't read the rest...

You claim Jacobs won. Please indicate how, round by round.

So many people going crazy over Golovkin. Might be time to find a name for these kind of people like "p@ctards", they could be called "GGGroupies" instead

He's a very good maybe great fighter who looks awesome because he's fought a lot of overmatched competition. It's like letting the NBA champions play all the teams who don't make the playoffs they're going to look unstoppable. He's fought a couple of very good fighters and the Jacobs fight a lot of people had him losing. He still needs to beat Canelo and Jacobs in the rematch to really be elite to me. Yes he's exciting and all but let's not just go crazy and crown him until he earns it.

I agree. Not even in past eras, at any weight. That's how good he is.

People who think Jacobs beat Golovkin don't like to provide details like how they scored each round.

And it gets worse when you rewatch and slow the fight down, it becomes clear Jacobs flashy punches didn't land nearly as often as first seemed. Judges got it right, if anything they over played Jacobs success.

Golovkin, operating on the front foot throughout the whole fight, outlanding Jacobs with 231 punches to 175, per Compubox.

Hell, ggg outlanded him in 9 of 12 rounds, tied one

GGG did far more damage too.

It was a good fight, but one Golovkin clearly should have won.
It was a good fight but the only thing Jacobs did better than Gennady was run and throw an occasional punch. He was the winner of the running backwards in high gear race, for that I give him the gold medal for, "back up speed".

Yeah well Pirog might have beaten anyone. Pirog might have been the best fighter of this era. Who knows? We will never know. On the other hand he was probably losing more of the rounds to Jacobs than GGG was, he just caught Jacobs and KO'd him back when Jacobs was younger, not as big, not having the early weigh-in and IBF advantage, and therefore probably not having as good a chin.

And Pirog went 12 rounds with Ishida, who GGG knocked through the ropes early. So I mean, Pirog was slightly more skilled than GGG, and slightly faster, but GGG is way, way more powerful. In the end, I think you have to pick GGG. Pirog was not built like Jacobs. He was skinnier I think, leaner, lighter. I do not think he would take GGG's body shots all night, and we don't really know about his chin, either. I got GGG. GGG's power and chin advantages are a lot bigger than Pirog's slight skill advantage. Why do I say slight? Remember, he was losing rounds to Jacobs, so it's not like he had Roy Jones skill.
