lol yeah I hear you on this. Happens all the time. People are excited when someone looks to be on the way to a good career and draw comparisons in their style and abilities to some of the best ever. Broner was being compared to the best boxers ever as well, and we know now he is not going to be an ATG (still a solid fighter tho).

I'd be surprised if Loma tumbles down as hard as Broner did but it isn't a foregone conclusion that he's going to be an ATG.

What I don't get (although it amuses me to no end) is how I become a hater by pointing out the truth.

I like the guy.

I think he can be great.

But, you never caught me praising Gary Russell Jr either, because he hadn't done shyt. Still hasn't, but he's looked like an ATG his last couple of fights.

Looking the part and BEING THE PART are two different things.

I agree with lomechenko his defense sucks like he said "I NEED TO WORK ON MY DEFENSE". Yeah go work on that cause you can only win against b- level fighters and your track record proves it.

True, I think them pushing the "in just x number of fights" thing makes it sound like he's some young gun far exceeding expectations when that's far from a fair characterization of his boxing career.

But he's still pretty dam good. Made Walters look ****** and heartless, outboxed Russell, KO'd martinez all of which was after a SD loss to Salido. I mean that's not exactly a HOF resume lol but it's a very strong trajectory.

I made this thread because I was surprised to see how much negative people had to say about how Lomachenko looked against Marriaga. I thought more of the negative talk would revolve around the fact that he chose to fight Marriaga in the first place, and it's fair to bring up how this is his second weak opponent in a row.

It just irked me how a couple months ago everyone said Loma looked like a beast, and yet after this fight people are acting like he can't box all of a sudden. Maybe not his best performance ever but let's not make more of this fight than it was.

People are fickle as all hell, BroBob.

They desire any reason to justify their fickleness, and further seek evidence to solidify that reason.

Of course, people have the right to change their minds, but it doesn't make it any less annoying when they do - especially when its a knee jerk change.
