Agreed. I just think we can't draw anything from this fight because marriage had no chance to win. I doubt any opponent coming up in weight can beat Loma in their 1st fight at that weight.Oh trust me, if Loma's resume had nothing but Marriagas on it I wouldn't be tooting his horn.
Yeah, Loma's last two opponents haven't been what we'd like to see him with. But these fights were fairly close together. There is still enough time to get another fight in this year against a better fighter.Comment

The problem is that the best names on Loma's resume aren't all that impressive either.Oh trust me, if Loma's resume had nothing but Marriagas on it I wouldn't be tooting his horn.

The big thing about Loma is supposed to be that he is this amateur doing great things professionally in so few fights.
But, even that doesn't hold up to much scrutiny if you think about it.
This isn't some amateur phenom 18 year old kid, it's a man who will be 30 next February.
He "officially" entered the pro game as a mature 26 year old- this despite six pro fights in the WSB.
400 amateur fight is a wealth of experience some pros with 20 fights don't have.
This was no typical newbie is what I am saying.
Loma is doing nothing special if you see him for what he is- a 30 year old with a carefully managed pro career.
The jury is still out as to how great he will become.
Let's hope he steps up and becomes the thing they are saying he is.Comment

It does look intentional in the gif to me too... I am skeptical about judging intent from just this gif doe
True, I think them pushing the "in just x number of fights" thing makes it sound like he's some young gun far exceeding expectations when that's far from a fair characterization of his boxing career. The problem is that the best names on Loma's resume aren't all that impressive either.

But he's still pretty dam good. Made Walters look ****** and heartless, outboxed Russell, KO'd martinez all of which was after a SD loss to Salido. I mean that's not exactly a HOF resume lol but it's a very strong trajectory.
I made this thread because I was surprised to see how much negative people had to say about how Lomachenko looked against Marriaga. I thought more of the negative talk would revolve around the fact that he chose to fight Marriaga in the first place, and it's fair to bring up how this is his second weak opponent in a row.
It just irked me how a couple months ago everyone said Loma looked like a beast, and yet after this fight people are acting like he can't box all of a sudden. Maybe not his best performance ever but let's not make more of this fight than it was.Comment

Lmaooo
It's amazing no one was hating when he got robbed in the solido fight now they see him as a threat against their favorite fighters and going full force like they always did with Floyd, PAC, etc the tradition continuesComment
