I'm not sure why people think Conor is a complete scrub. He's not going to beat Floyd or even come close, but to think he couldn't be competitive with a guy like Paulie who would probably be a fringe top 20 guy at WW is a stretch.

Conor has been boxing for 15 years. A lot of pro sparring partners have a pretty weak/average record, and they give champs good work.

Let's be realistic here. Paulie, at his absolute best was no better than a B- level fighter. That was at the lower weight classes, below 147. Paulie is retired from boxing, A feather-fisted blown up lightweight with hand problems and only 7 KO's in his entire career. He not to long ago had a brain hemorrhage after Porter whooped him. He also appeared a bit chubby compared to his normal self in recent interviews and that's a first, I've never seen him like that. Now, Connor, a CURRENT champion, in the PEAK of his career, a guy who naturally is HUGE compared to Paulie, a guy who is one month out from the biggest fight of his career hires him for sparring cuz Paulie is a name and knows that Paulie at this point so expired as a fighter its ZERO risk... no chance of embarrassing "Conor Ko'd in sparring" bull**** with old, fat, feather fisted retired Paulie. Bully move and a publicity stunt. Conor wouldn't dare step in the ring and spar a real top 20 fighter because he would get knocked out and it would **** the fight up.
