Comments Thread For: Nevada Commission: Mayweather Unable To Change Glove Size

What Floyd Mayweather wants is not always what he gets. The Nevada State Athletic Commission has put the brakes on his plan to change the glove size for his upcoming showdown with UFC superstar Conor McGregor. The two fighters are set to collide at the junior middleweight limit of 154-pounds - which under the Nevada rules would call for 10-ounce gloves. McGregor claimed in several interviews that Mayweather intentionally wanted the junior middleweight limit, because 10-ounce gloves are used above the welterweight class.

They think we have a bad memory. This rule is only about 10 years old and many complained when it first came out. They allowed fighters to use 8 oz in the past, like manny vs margarito.

That fight was in Texas, likely for this reason.

          Floyd knew this.

So Conor complained about 10oz gloves.... Could he have made 147???

Edit: Featherweight is 145 but he hasn't made that in 2 years.

But they're going to allow a 0-0 fighter to fight someone who is 49-0. What a joke.

If Floyd put it in the contract they would. Trust me. I mean what rule did they follow allowing a 0-0 fighter to even compete against someone with 49 professional fights?

                    Floyd: What's up, Bob
Bob Bennett: Hello Floyd, how can I serve you?
Floyd: Hey listen, after everything's said and done, is it possible to wear anything other than 10 oz gloves?
Bob Bennett: No. Only 10 oz gloves. Why do you ask?
...the line drops. Floyd proceeds to type his 8 oz gloves challenge to Conor.
