the ref was looking at the time keeper....i wonder why? why do refs normally look at the time keeper? because they have a crush on them? or because they are waiting for the signal that the clock has been started again? from what i know cortez never recieved that signal or at least his tiny brain had not yet registered the signal to his mouth/body to relay that message to teh fighters. he was standing there open mouthed waiting for something when floyd punched ortiz. then of course when he sees that he just starts counting instantly forgetting what he was just waiting for. just like gatti-floyd when the ref said stop punching! floyd hits gatti and knocks him down and the ref starts counting but you just said....I SAID NOTHING!

Exactly. Cortez was a farce and had no business being ref in a meaningful fight some time prior to that bumble. He ****** from day one but at that time he was horrible.the ref was looking at the time keeper....i wonder why? why do refs normally look at the time keeper? because they have a crush on them? or because they are waiting for the signal that the clock has been started again? from what i know cortez never recieved that signal or at least his tiny brain had not yet registered the signal to his mouth/body to relay that message to teh fighters. he was standing there open mouthed waiting for something when floyd punched ortiz. then of course when he sees that he just starts counting instantly forgetting what he was just waiting for. just like gatti-floyd when the ref said stop punching! floyd hits gatti and knocks him down and the ref starts counting but you just said....I SAID NOTHING!Comment

You are not allowed to use your elbows in a boxing match PERIOD. Those are the rules and they aren't rules just because. You try running into a forearm or elbow while trying to duck or throw a punch see if that shhh doesn't either cut you, lump you up, or potentially break an eye socket/nose/cheek bone/Jaw.Comment

What it seemed like you said was that he tried to purposely stay down because he was being out classed, which wasn't the case. He was just dazed and couldn't get to his feet properly. The idiot ref blew it and that's the end of story really.Comment

He was fine. I'm sure the shot didn't feel good but he could have risen no problem. That was his way out of the fight without looking like a quitter or a coward. Boxers make a lot of decisions during the course of a fight. Atlas talks about this very often. Fighters will quit, act confused, ask questions, ignore pain, mask emotions, play opossum, do all sorts of things in the ring to manipulate the circumstances.
Cortez didn't blow anything. He called for time in and Mayweather was ready and Ortiz was still apologizing. Amateur mistake.Comment

Lol! Like you know how he felt. That sucker punch was the only punch that did any damage. The dude couldn't get up and continue whether he could physically get up or not. Cortez never said to continue fighting and when he made his tiny hand gesture to keep fighting the fighters weren't even looking at him.He was fine. I'm far from a casual. Know more about current, past and future boxing than you ever will and have been a fan for probably more years than you are old. And for the record I've been on this site more than ten years but thanks for playing, simpleton.
You're just a Floyd fan willing to say whatever doesn't discredit his bullsh@t last KO.
