Man, I wish I still lived in Cali to see Cotto live. I was never able to attend any fights of his in Vegas, and this would have been the perfect chance to see it.
I agree, there shouldn't really be a title involved with this. But that is the state of boxing we've come to know. A sanctioning body has to be in play so that the next fight or path can be drawn. And that is a Canelo rematch most likely.
If Cotto loses, time to really hang 'em up.Comment

Wouldn't be that surprised if Kamegai pulls off the win, at this stage of Cotto's career after the layoff it could happen. I stand by the fact he has been shot since 2012. His 2 wins since the Mayweather fight have been against an injured Martinez and a shot to s*** quitting Daniel Geale.
You can definitely poke holes in the quality of Cotto's opposition in the three fights immediately following the Trout loss . . . but as limited as that opposition may have been, a "shot" fighter would not have had such an easy time in all three fights. Cotto had some serious bounce to his step and great timing on his punches. He also looked pretty damn good in a losing effort to Canelo.
Very possible that he's aged since the Canelo fight...but, at this point at least, it's too early to write him off as shot....even at his age.Comment

Based on his performance against Canelo in his last fight he sure did not look shot.
I mean he's no where near his prime. But he's not shot to **** as you claim him to be.
Coming off a 21 month layoff and being close to 37 years now, we'll see if he has aged over night.
But for the time period you are mentioning, Cotto was not shot.Comment

Yeah, if Cotto loses to Kamegai. It's definitely time to hang them up. I agree with you there.Comment

I have never understood the hate for Cotto by many of the users on this site. I think this will be a good fight, dude is coming off of an almost 2 year inactivity period. Kamegai is on a really good roll if im not mistaken i think he has like 6 kos in his last 7 fights something like that. Give the guy a break. Some of you hating on Kamegi as Cottos opponent, are riding Mayweathers nuts and he fighting a guy that has no business in a professional boxing ring.Comment
