Conor wins even if he loses. The only way Conor could possibly come away with 'losing' the event is if he gets dominated and embarrassed. If it goes 12 rounds but Conor ends up getting embarrassed in the process then it won't look bad for Floyd taking him the distance. But... If Conor is competitive for 12 rounds, that would make boxing look REALLY bad. If he beast Floyd, well... It's over.
Uh. Yep. You are correct. He's going to look like he's wearing a snorkel and fins. Nevermind getting dominated. It should and will be much worse if Floyd takes it there.
