So basically you guys are saying Kovalev has baby nuts??? He didn't react like someone getting punched in the balls... He didn't flail or back off and let the ref come in, he didn't wince and crouch down for a breather - he was bent over, it's a fight, so Ward was supposed to check on him?? Isint it protect yourself at all times?? Fans will only see what they want to see... Fans will only defend a bully who wanted out - well if it was that serious, then they would have filed their official protest/complaint 2days later on Monday the first business day after the fight!!

This! And also how come Kovalev didn't protest the stoppage at the time but then does all this crying after the fight is over? All I can repeat to these upset fans is - Watch the last minute and a half and count how many punches both guys land. Ward was hitting him over and over and Sergey was backing up like he didn't want it anymore. Yeah he didn't get dropped but he looked exhausted & defeated.

Yeah it was a bit of an early stoppage, I thought the same, then I watched it again. Did it change the outcome? Hell no. If the ref let it continue another round and Ward knocked him out cold or landed like 10 unanswered punches all you guys saying it was stopped too early would be moaning saying it was too late

he said it was low in round 2. why wouldnt the same punch be low in round 7 or 8? and the final 3 were actually lower than all the others so they would definitely be ruled a foul right? is every single low blow not considered borderline? doesnt matter if its intentional or not you cant let a fighter keep fouling and getting an advantage. well you can and he did but that shouldnt be teh case. do the rules simply not matter for certain fighters? are you going to make excuses everytime ward clinches, headbutts, and low blows? why? what do you get from it. do you want to be a cheater like him when you grow up?

how did ward have him figured out? because his low blows started being ignored? he landed that nice right hand but if you notice after that he never really landed anything clean besides one nice body shot. kovalev was slipping and blocking everything ward was throwin. probably why he got frustrated and went super low. the ref should have deducted points and given kovalev a 5 minute rest so i see no reason why kovalev couldnt have come back to win with a non corrupt ref. most had kov winning the fight at that point anyway

Or, if he really didn't spot the low blows, he should have given him a count when he sat down on the bottom rope. But he didn't do either, he just waved his magic hand and turned Kovalev into a quitter ...

so you are criticizing the guy who was being fouled because of the way he reacted? never criticizing the guy who is actually doing the fouling. this is a nice bizarro world you have created. heres a simpler way of looking at things. if its a foul it should be treated as a foul. no need to be the thought police and try to disect how a guy is reacting and his body language because you will just fall into your own bias that way. if you dont like a guy you will read his body language as "trying to quit" or "he reacted strangely"

You don't get it? Ward is promoted by Roc Nation. Roc Nation is owned by a guy who makes Floyd Mayweather look like a pauper who can't even afford to pay his taxes.

Ward's promotors gave him a guarantee of $6million for a rematch of a fight that flopped on PPV first time around.

Why did they do that?

I don't think it was because they wanted to advance boxing. I think it was because somebody with a lot of money to throw around badly wanted to see Ward beat Kovalev, and was willing to pay as much as it took to make that happen.

If RocNation is willing to spend that kind of money on buying a win I think every boxer should sign with them.

when did he quit though? the ref stopped the fight after he was low blowed several times. was floyd a quitter when judah and maidana roughed him up? what if the ref had stopped teh fight? i guess so according to you. or wait its different because..............why? same thing happened but 2 different results depending on who was the a-side. thats the whole problem here but some people are happy with that kind of unequal treatment.
