I paid money for the Chavez/Canelo fight so I realize I have no standing (although I suspected I was getting hoodwinked when I bought it); with that being said, I can't get over how all these people like Cortez are saying things to con us into paying for this farce. There have been plenty of guys with concussive power in boxing that have had limited skills and no chance to beat the best. Anyone remember Julian Letterlough, etc...Comment

McGregor has Paulie and Cortez in his camp to fight Mayweather in a boxing match...just repeat this a few timesComment

I beg to differ. Those may have been big fights for serious boxing fans, but not for the public at-large. I'm not even sure you can call them truly big fights for hardcore boxing fans either. Sure they were good match-ups, but big? Mayweather-Pacquiao was big, and would've been much bigger had it happened five years earlier.if you dont think joshua vs wlad or spence vs brook or danny vs thurman were big fights you dont know boxing with all due respect! even leo vs framoton all these are big fights and they were all on showtime or cbs! none fof them were ppv rip offs like canelo vs smith or canelo vs chavez lmao
I can't speak on Wlad-Joshua. It may have been big in England, but nary a peep was heard here in the US. I can assure you, back when Duran fought Leonard -- just as an example -- the common man (and woman) knew what was going on. Nobody outside the boxing world knows or cares about Garcia, Thurman, Brook, et al.Comment

who gives a damn if the general public didnt know about them? i dont give a damn! they were big fights for boxing! thurman vs danny was watched by 5 million people dummy! thats a ratings record for boxing in decades! wow you are focusing on all the wrong things even though ratings and ppv sales for those fights were good! wlad vs aj sold 1.5 million ppv in england! it was watched by 30 million in germany! a world wide event which was showcased on showtime and hbo for only the 2nd time in boxing history! like i said bitter and delusional fans like you kill boxing!I beg to differ. Haha You don't care about the general public? They're the ones that determine whether boxing lives or dies, not the relatively few serious fans walking around. I don't know if your numbers are correct. I don't doubt Wlad got high numbers in Germany, and that Joshua appealed to a lot of people in England. Thurman-Garcia got five mill? I dunno about that. No one outside of boxing knows who they are.who gives a damn if the general public didnt know about them? i dont give a damn! they were big fights for boxing! thurman vs danny was watched by 5 million people dummy! thats a ratings record for boxing in decades! wow you are focusing on all the wrong things even though ratings and ppv sales for those fights were good! wlad vs aj sold 1.5 million ppv in england! it was watched by 30 million in germany! a world wide event which was showcased on showtime and hbo for only the 2nd time in boxing history! like i said bitter and delusional fans like you kill boxing!
I understand boxing is not just a US sport, but if you're from here (and you've indicated you are), then you should be concerned about the decline in its appeal to the average Joe in the States. If you asked 100 random people at Walmart to name one current heavyweight champ, I'd be surprised if you got a handful of correct replies. You'd probably get a larger but still small number of people that know the name Mayweather. Outside of that it's crickets.Comment
