How the **** would Cortez know? has he been sparring as well?

They already got a retired shot boxer/showtime commentator in to spar to give a first hand account and tell lies to sell the fight so it wouldn't surprise me if they got Cortez in too.

No one outside of boxing knows who they are.

I understand boxing is not just a us sport, but if you're from here (and you've indicated you are), then you should be concerned about the decline in its appeal to the average joe in the states. If you asked 100 random people at walmart to name one current heavyweight champ, i'd be surprised if you got a handful of correct replies. You'd probably get a larger but still small number of people that know the name mayweather. Outside of that it's crickets.

are you mentally slow? You can google thurman vs danny ratings genius! It peaked at more than 5 million! Also thurman vs porter did 4 million! Even wilder vs washington did almost 3 million! All these numbers are public information! Google is very easy to use! So you are wrong again! Millions of casuals know thurman!

Do sop****ric insults get you off, kid? Lol

I'm well aware I can find all those numbers myself online. I didn't bother because those statistics can't all be taken at face value. Did it ever occur to you that people often tune in to whatever happens to be playing at the moment? There are over 320 million people in the US. Even a small percentage of them can be a significant number in absolute terms.

If you look closer at the stats, you'll notice that Thurman-Garcia peaked at 5.1 million in the final round. The card averaged 3.1, and the main event 3.74 (source: Bad Left Hook). But guess what? "That peak audience was also the second highest overall for boxing on broadcast television since 1998, coming right behind last year’s Errol Spence vs. Leonard Bundu card which aired on NBC. That show didn’t air during primetime though, and immediately followed the men’s gold medal basketball game at the Rio Olympics. The peak audience for that show came right during the opening minutes of that broadcast." (From the same article.)

Now, consider this: the population of the US was 275.9 in 1998 (source: your precious Google lol), today's population is 323.1. That's almost 50 million more souls, yet it took a boxing card almost twenty years to compare to boxing "popularity" in sheer numbers. That, my friend, means there's a big net decline in interest. (And let's not forget, the late nineties wasn't exactly the golden age of boxing, either.) As you should (hopefully) see by now, your stats aren't helping your cause. Lol

One last thing, if the name Thurman is known by millions of casuals, it's only because they stumbled upon him while channel surfing. I suppose, by your logic, Spence is a household name. Lol

I just gave you a detailed answer as to why those stats you're so fond of citing can't be taken at face value.

Look, let me give you an example: FIDE, the world's chess federation, is second only to soccer as the largest sports organization in the world. The sheer number of competitive chess players globally is huge. Yet, who would say chess is a popular sport? How many people outside the game know the world champion's name, let alone past champions and current top players?

Statistics have to be held up to other factors. I believe I've made my case.
