Comments Thread For: Omar Figueroa: Mayweather-McGregor a Joke, Slap in The Face

Former WBC lightweight champion Omar Figueroa (27-0-1, 19 KOs) made a big statement last Saturday night in New York. Figueroa moved all the way up to the welterweight limit of 147-pounds, and scored five knockdowns in a three round destruction of former world champion Robert Guerrero.

Let's face it most fighters are bitter and jealous because they're making 500K or less per fight while here's a guy making $100-150 million for what's gonna be an easy nights work. They hate seeing it, but they'd do it if they could.

If Floyd wasn't 40 coming off of a 2 year layoff - and fighting the best striker in MMA right now in his prime... I'd agree...

Is Conor going to do any worse than Canelo, De La Hoya, or Pacquiao, etc.?
Conor is never in a boring fight... Conor will make it entertaining even in a lop-sided defeat.

These boxers need to fight better opponents and stop hating on Floyd...

You're sure Floyd will be the same at 40+ coming off a layoff? Wow, you can predict the future...

Right, because loading your gloves against Guerrero was better.

People are hating on it mainly because it's Mayweather. He could be fighting the #1 welterweight instead and half this forum would still be hating on it, that's just how it is. Besides that, a lot of people have always wondered how a boxer would do against an MMA fighter and vice versa. That, and the huge fan bases both guys have is what has made the fight big. Hardcore boxing fans might not like it, but a huge percentage of the general public does. Every day I get someone talking to me about it, just in my day-to-day life. And it's been going on for months and months.

I don't get why people take this so seriously. Can't someone just wanna see an event, which is what this fight is if nothing else, without them being a ****** lol. I mean can't someone go watch a movie, play or concert just to want to see whats going on with something & perhaps be entertained or not entertained? I don't see how this is any different then that at the end of the day.

klitschko is 41 and was coming off an 18 mth layoff vs top heavyweight. fmw still trains with his active fighters in his gym and is fighting basically a advanced gym rat. fight is a big joke. mcgregor can't punch with 10 oz gloves over 6-8 rounds, let alone 12 rounds. shane mosley jr knocks mcgregor out in 3 rounds.
