Staggered at some of the comments here... Joe is "scared" (I thought it was Jeff Lacy he was scared of? 
) and that he should go into a fight with the foreknowledge that he only has one healthy hand. Utterly bizarre (and, as others have noted, Calzaghe HAS won his last two fights with one healthy hand... but didn't go into the fights with the injuries, which would be suicidal).
Here's a (paraphrased) quote from Calzaghe that I read in a recent magazine interview:
"If you're not 100% fit, you don't fight, it's that simple. You can call me 'sicknote' as much as you like, but that's why I've been undefeated and world champion for eight years and made eighteen successful defences."
