I haven't seen any haters. I'm actually irritated by all these dudes overrating the guy as if he the next coming.

I am not overly impressed by Usyk. I don't know what the big deal is.

    Andrew Tabiti interests me more.

Usyk is good, but at this stage I think he's a bit overrated. I've also seen him fight down to the level of the opposition quite a bit. Add that to a relative lack of power, and he's not the most impressive fighter to me.

Why don't you just message those 3 guys instead of making a thread about it bro. At least put their names in the titles.

That said I could see Usyk getting haters if he breezes through this WBSS tournament as I could see him doing. Anyone who's too good for their division tends to get haters & Usyk could easily be just a level above everyone at 200lbs. A lot of boxing fans hate guys who are too good to be tested + got that 0.

Maybe because it only takes one decent win for fans to start putting fighters on pedestals and hyping them too soon. What I see in him is a guy with sketchy defense, awkward--jerky movement, and he's big for a CW. He will be stuck at CW because he won't be able to carry his power to HW. After his first loss, all the fans who were rallying behind him will fade into the background.

Or maybe its because he looks like Ed from the cartoon.

Rakhim Chakhkiev, 2008 Olympic gold medalist, had a good little forum fanbase here which I did not understand. That fanbase now disappeared, his hype is non-existent, no one talks about him, but in 2012 he was hyped. Usyk will be the same. Too old, too sloppy, doesn't really have enough time to evolve much. The DKSAB talk is all about little spoiled boxing fans like yourself throwing tantrums at people who are criticizing your favorite fighters. One look at Usyk and what i'm saying is actually true, he is actually pretty sloppy, he does at times fight like a doofus, and he is very opened to not only rights and lefts, but uppercuts and haymakers, pretty much every time. He blocks punches with his face and then remembers to block with his gloves after like a 5 punch combo lands on him. He's so overrated that it's laughable at this point.

I can stand behind the hyping of Lomachenko, Crawford, I understand the Golovkin hype, I get the Spence hype, I like hyping up Mikey Garcia, etc. But there's just this weird fighter who comes along once in a while which I just don't understand the hype around him and he ends up being nothing anyway. Usyk and this "loaded" CW division falls under that category. Completely overrated beyond belief.

I really do disagree. I'm quite shocked you think this tbh lol.
Cruiserweight is loaded and really deep. REALLY deep I don't see any other division that has fighters to the quality of say a Kalenga probably outside the top 20-30.
You've got guys like Huck going upto Heavyweight and arguably beating Povetkin - a top 3 HW at the time.
An old Cunningham who could no longer hang at CW going up and dropping Fury and giving all these HWs real issues years later in fact
Breidis knocking Charrs head off. What does that say about the HWs?
I'm in agreement with Kev. I see Gassiev then everybody else.

Povetkin became a completely different fighter around 2014 (PEDS) when he transformed his body. His punches gained considerable power, speed, and his conditioning got much better.

Fury is another guy that got into the best shape of his life vs Wlad, prior to that he'd been hurt/dropped numerous times by journeymen level fighters. Both 2 different versions.

Charr, he'd already been KO'd by Pedvetkin, lost to Duhapaus, he's a journeymen.

In all, the HW division has changed dramatically in recent years, Wilder, AJ, Ortiz, in shape Fury/Pedvetkin, up and comers like Joyce, Ugonoh, Miller, etc.

The CW division is brimming with talented fighters and all those top guys pack real dynamite. There are a lot of quality prospects coming through as well Ryad Merhy is very fun too watch, Fayfer - A very unorthodox switch-hitter quite reminiscent of Pirog.
Golovashchenko he is a cross between Golovkin and Lomachenko just messing with that one

That fight with Mchunu was on short notice and he's a real awkward, slippery little bugger and really hard to look against.
He's probably ranked top 15-20 - a guy of that quality is probably going to be a world champion in most other divisions IMO in fact he's better than most current world champions

I will agree I don't feel Usyk is as slick as many elude to. In fact I think guys that throw straight shots can hardly miss him at times but he's still a very impressive specimen who impresses me greatly with his footwork and working off angles.

Bellew beat the guy that brutally KO'd Mchunu, Makabu, a top 10 cruiser. idk if you're getting the 2 mixed up?

I think Bellew has really exposed the division stopping guys never stopped before like Makabu, Masternak, Flores etc.

Other things have stood out to me as well such as RJJ going 10+ rounds with Lebedev and even being able to hurt him.

Miranda going a full fight with Dorticos and taking flush shots from him.

I mean can you imagine if RJJ was going 10+ with Kovalev? Miranda taking flush shots from Beterbiev and not going down?

Bellew/Vlaslov wrecking everybody they put in front of them too. I could name 10 LHW's that would defeat both men, Ward, Kovalev, Beterbiev, Stevenson, Bivol, Gvozdyk, Barrera, Alvarez, Browne, Smith Jr. etc. up and comers like Elbiali and Yarde would also handle both of them.

Usyk has shown plenty of flaws against both Hunter and Mchunu, much of the same flaws that was getting him rocked/dropped by Beterbiev in the amateurs. I truly believe Beterbiev would KO him in the pros at cruiser.

I do believe cruiser is headed in the right direction and will be better after the tournament but that's a few years from now. I think the division is suffering from too many guys moving up, Haye, Adamek, Cunningham, etc.

you are comparing the monobrow chakhiev with Usyk? seriously? ****ing lol you may as well of compared audley harrison with him. gold medals and eastern euro's = same thing innit!!! you literally couldnt pick two fighters more diametrically opposed

Please explain how a guy with 10 fights shuts out glowacki 12 rounds to zero and you call him overrated?

he loses a couple of rounds and suddenly hes crap...i don't even know why im giving you a serious reply.
I don't even particularly like watching him, but give me a usyk fight over watching andre ward ANY day of the week, but hey you love ward don't you?

I still have some question marks about him. He does appear very raw and crude at times but other video highlights I have seen of him he looks solid.

With his style he needs to have more punching power. With his lack of punching power and perhaps stamina I am not sure how far he can go even though I have him the best CW right now. The tournament will show alot.

He does not hit hard enough to be a force at heavyweight nor big enough.

CW is really talented right now.
