The floyd love is strong in this one.
Realistically only welterweights that can beat Floyd are Leonard/Hearns/Robinson.

Regardless of how you feel about the outcomes of those matchups, it is just a testimony to the company Floyd keeps in fantasy fights. You have to go to the creme de la creme of welterweight to even find unfavorable matchups.Comment

I'll agree with anyone who makes the claim Floyd Mayweather is the best defensive fighter ever but is he the best ever? Not even close.
He's very good against flat footed raging bulls. Easy to counter. Easy to knock out also by countering with a shot they're too slow to see coming or too full of adrenaline to even worry about. Example of knockout...Hatton. Example of slipping and ccountering...Canelo.How many slick, speedy, rangy and technical boxers has he beat? You won't find many if any at all.
He clearly picked his opponents very carefully when two fighters that in my opinion would have beaten him and beaten him on points were avoided.
Firstly...Paul Williams. Extremely talented, rangy, tall, slick boxer who had the style to beat him. Once he beat Margarito he was on the welterweight map. Everyone wanted to see that fight. From fans to boxers like Tyson, Hopkins, Roy Jones etc. They all wanted that fight.
Turns out Mayweather was aiming for bigger things with the Oscar Dela Hoya fight who was declining and on the way out. So Mayweather saw the big bucks, the shiny lights and the opportunity to become master and commander of his own career and took it. Kudos to him.
In the meantime Paul Williams suffers his first loss, which the Mayweather camp unfairly used to downplay any chance Williams had, then quickly avenged the loss. Went on to have a decent career. Few losses. Still was a great boxer until his unfortunate accident. So all hopes of that fight went away quick.
Secondly...Amir Khan. Yes, that chinny stick insect. Topped Mayweathers own poll of who he should fight next. Was Mayweathers mandatory for a while. Then Mayweather only goes ahead and picks the fighter that lost to Amir Khan.
You can laugh all you want but the fact is Khan has consistently won the majority of the rounds he has boxed in throughout his career. Clearly had the speed and reach advantage. Clearly should have been given an opportunity after the Maidana fight. More importantly Khan had a style Mayweather has never encountered before (the tall, speedy and rangy type boxer like Paul Williams). So if Mayweather was really that good he would have proved his skill against that type of boxer whilst filling his pocket with "easy work" chump change.
Therefore I'll conclude that Mayweather is the best defensive fighter I've seen BUT he carefully selected his opponents once he had the power to do so and did not fully test himself with styles that would clearly test his own style of boxing. In other words he conned and laughed his way to the bank after the Oscar fight. Let's not forget...he's got Victor Ortiz on his resume...LOL!! (Another fighter who lost his hot streak to Amir Khan when he was in the amateurs).
This fight with Connor McGregor...just another example of that. Should be entertaining enough to stream though.
Please don't forget styles make the difference not their resume.Comment

I think the great welterweight champion Jose Napoles in his prime would beat Mayweather at 130, 135, 140 and 147. Hearns and Leonard and Robinson in their prime would beat him and the Duran that beat Leonard would also beat him as would Trinidad. Just my honest opinion because these fantasy fights are just guesses and opinions, not provable fact. Mayweather is a great fighter and he might beat all of these guys. We will never know for sure.Comment

Lmao
The guy was defeated by maidana clearly in the first fight and also lost early on his career when Floyd broke his hand
Just because he got gifts, doesn't make him betterComment

Man y people in history beat him. Floyd's not about proving he's the best. Spence, brook beat him. Maidana beat him first fight and maidanas bloated at ww PAC beat him arguably or unarguably depending on who you speak to.Comment
