Admittedly, Scott ran that entire fight and had no intention of engaging or trying to win.

Ortiz pot shot his way to a win barely breaking a sweat.

Anywho, boxing needs this fight - I know Stiverne is lawyering up to force a fight no one wants to see...but please, boxing Gods, make Wilder v Ortiz happen.

    • This should be a good fight, good on Wilder for selecting Ortiz.

      • If he fights Ortiz, that would make two quality fights in 39 fights for Wilder. Kudos to Wilder because that would put him on the same level as Canelo Alvarez and GGG and would put him much higher than alleged greats e Julio Chavez Sr. and Robert Duran.

        • Massive decision to fight Ortiz and I applaud Wilder if this fight goes through.

In reference to his ranking, that is on the WBC as they had him at #2 before matching him up against Povetkin, and then when Povetkin got popped again, they elevated Stiverne to #1.
I know all this but in the article it states that Al Haymon was negotiating with Don King about step aside money. The WBC first said Stiverne would have to fight Ortiz in a final eliminator after Povetkin failed again but weeks later the WBC backed off & named Stiverne the mandatory. I'm assuming Don King's influence had something to do with that. No network wants the rematch

            • Here's hoping this happens and Stiverne isn't able to get in the way. Would be a very interesting matchup and a definite step up for Wilder, something he's needed for a while to bring himself back to the forefront of HW boxing fans minds.

Do find it kind of amusing though that there's numerous posts in here with people already complaining that Wilder will get no credit for beating Ortiz because he's old and looked terrible recently... that's exactly the same rhetoric the same fanboys use to discredit Joshua's win over Klitschko. Reality is they're both step up fights and beating Ortiz would clearly elevate Wilder and dramatically increase Wilder's standing amongst actual boxing fans.

And then when he becomes undisputed champ:

"This new era is weak. Prime Vitali kills him."
