Canelo is NOT smaller, GGG is NOT hype.

[QUOTE=TonyGe;17858075]No. But even when you admit that its not a good fight or a career defining fight you still justify it....thats all. And Im glad you recognize its not a career defining fight. But so many GGG act and talk that it IS one. And its not. The media has just force fed this fight which is why GGGs fans act this way. The media and HBO need big fights and so they put a big name like Canelo with a built up brand they pushed and all of the sudden people act like its some legendary night for GGG already. Canelo hasnt beaten a MW yet.
I just wonder why its ok for you to say its not career defining. But its for money so its ok. So a guy with no career defining, great, fights can chase money meanwhile guys like Floyd and Ward have every move put under a microscope and criticized when they have accomplished much more?Comment

[QUOTE=Curt Henning;17858977]I'm trying to explain to you why the fight is happening. I'm not justifying anything. The fight is happening because there is big dollars involved for both parties. In the eyes of the general public and the media the winner will be validated. Validation is good for the fighters ego and their pocket book when they negotiate their next fight. As far as Floyd goes he can come out of retirement and fight anyone he wants. That's his business. Whether a win against a guy with zero pro experience is going to be recognized as an achievement is open for debate. Since you mentioned microscopes Gennady has been under a microscope for quite a while. So my impression is, you think it's unfair that your favorite fighters are being critisized so you want to even the score by attacking another fighter. I stopped being a fan of Mayweather when he morphed from Pretty Boy Floyd into Money May. I gradually lost interest in following his career. Andre Ward. I don't like the wrestling, headbutting etc that he does on a constant basis. I didn't care for it before I knew Golovkin exsisted. Guys like Loma and Spence I can get behind because they are exciting fighters that to me at box generally by the rules.

I'm not syaing weight isn't important but height is a massive part of what makes "size" if you don't understand you have neevr taken part in a fight, let alone boxingThe only way to match fighters by size is to match them by weight. That's why boxing, and every other combat sport, has weight divisions. Not height divisions, or fist size divisions, or leg length divisions ... weight divisions.
GGG and Canelo are the same weight, and therefore, the same size.Comment

I've had plenty of fights, including over 50 in the boxing ring. But you don't need to have had any fights at all to understand the "size" is a 3 dimensional quality, and no single one of those 3 dimensions is any more important than the others.
If 2 men are the same weight and one man is taller, then the shorter man must be broader or thicker, and what matters is which one of them can impose his own advantage on the other by means of tactics, control of range, etc.Last edited by kafkod; 07-15-2017, 01:27 AM.Comment

50 fights and you think the shorter man is the one who is going to control range? Yeah ok.I've had plenty of fights, including over 50 in the boxing ring. It's a shame you're a fellow Corbyn supporter.Comment
