UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson won the ESPY for "Best Fighter" on Wednesday night at ESPN's annual awards show in Los Angeles. Johnson beat out UFC superstar Conor McGregor and boxers Terence Crawford, Gennady Golovkin and Andre Ward to win the award, which recognizes the achievements of boxers and mixed martial artists. The winner was announced as part of the 25th annual ESPY Awards, which aired on ABC from the Microsoft Theater.

Ward wouldn't get it due to most thinking he lost the first fight with Kovalev and the low blow tko controversy of the second fight. The award giver doesn't want the drama that giving it to Ward would bring.

Mighty Mouse is a damn good fight! I'm not mad at that! UFC/MMA has surpassed boxing people and we can only blame ourselves for allowing it to happen. We spend most of our time B1TCHING about everything in boxing while UFC/MMA fans are far more united they actually VOTE for MMA Guys. Nobody even started a thread on this forum about Voting for a Boxer for the ESPY's

So a UFC fighter will get that Award for YEARS TO COME! I could see Anthony Joshua one day taking the crown back for boxing or someone like that!

I've legitimately never even heard of this guy. I mean I'm sure he's popular as f**k and everything but that just goes to show how utterly out of tune I am with anything MMA.
