True, it would be humiliating and potentially sadistic, but it should have happened anyway; certainly instead of Jeff Horn. Crawford is Top Rank's future, he deserved to take the torch from Manny, not the Hornet. Crawford must be livid. If he could get out of his contract with Uncle Bob, I am sure he would.

I tend to agree. Morales handled Pac nicely in his prime in their first fight. Bud is just as talented and naturally bigger, so he could've done the same.

If a fighter named Gamboa moves up from featherweight to 140 and still gave him all sorts of problems. If Gamboa and Crawford were the same size, it would be a much different story. How could he beat Manny? Forgot Manny, Crawford is a good fighter but he is terribly overrated.

De la Hoya at 140 smokes Crawford
Mosley at 140 smokes him, Mosley at 135 would end his career (Mosley one of the greatest lightweights in history)
Julio Caesar Chavez smokes him at 140
Aaron Pryor smokes him at 140.

Crawford is a good fighter and the best at 140, but please don't act like he would stack up historically with the old Manny or any other great fighter
You've got it backwards. If anything, Crawford is underrated. You VASTLY underrate him. Crawford handles Pac in his prime and he hangs with or beats the fighters you mention above. He is that good. Btw, since you mention Morales, check out that first fight, when Erik showed up in shape.

im pretty sure that will happen on CBS in 2018! Thurman is the only welterwight willing to fight spence! he just beat porter and danny back to back! if he wants to rest after getting bone spurs removed from his elbow he should do that! he deserves it! he has earned it!

He may not be better than Manny but he would pose a problem for Manny because he has the attributes of fighters Arum generally kept Manny away from (floyd, raheem, williams, yuri foreman) after he lost to Morales.
The Pacquiao that fought Cotto would have destroyed Crawford. Crawford was getting caught and wobbled with punches from the much smaller Gamboa. No way he survives 12 rounds with a prime Pacquiao.

Well if they make Crawford fight at a CW, maybe.

There is a clear type of fighter that Bob didn't have Manny fight after Morales outboxed him in their 1st fight. The names I mentioned were all boxers and movers with significantly longer reach than Manny.

They had the skill and length to keep Manny away from them with their jabs and would be better able to counter his shots and avoid his power.
