Comments Thread For: How Top Rank's Deal With ESPN Changes Boxing

By Andreas Hale - Is there anybody out there that still has the nerve to say that boxing is dead? The sentiment has spilled out from the mouths of detractors for several years. Some blamed the fact that the best don't always fight the best. While that is true, it hasn't always been boxing's biggest issue. The reason the sport is losing an audience is a lack of exposure to the masses....

Fighters grinding to make the Big Bucks has created an exclusive home cable audience...

Even in Vegas, I don't know a Bar or a locals casino/Sportbook that carries HBO, Showtime.

Maybe the Broadcasters should rethink their gouging of these outlets...

I assume have priced them out the market...

The only thing that will Save boxing is Money. You need to give people what the want. They want evenlly match fights with honest judges and competent refs, and that will happen otherwise people will stop watching. The truth always prevails, thats why we have ESPN boxing because premium channel boxing is dead thanks to streaming.

Seriously HBO is in the worst trouble that I've seen them in since I've been following boxing. Granted they do have who is arguably the most profitable star in the sport now outside of Floyd (Canelo), but who else do they got? Ward & Kovalev? Those two were a box office bomb. Together at that. GGG is what, 36? Who the hell else do they got left?
