No, of course not. This is the fight that he needs to win to even be in the conversation for being a future Hall Of Famer.

Beating Canelo would help build his case. The only other way I see he gets in for sure is if Jacobs goes on a monster run. This is assuming he retires after losing to Canelo.

I think the run of defences and knockouts would ensure his place in the HOF. It's been an impressive run.

The Canelo fight is make or break for Golovkin.

Well let's look at it this way, is GGG's resume really any worse than Gatti's?

Unfairly I say he will be. His "MW title defenses record " will get him in.

This. I mean, Gatti pretty much got in for his entertainment value. GGG can do the same, although I don't think GGG reached Gatti love. He does go out there to put on a good show though every fight, so I guess that counts. He also had/has? the highest KO% in middleweight history which counts for something worth mentioning in the HOF. I don't see why not.

Gatti has been in iconic fights.

I'd say no. There are much better ppl with much better resumes that aren't in the HOF.

                      The question is too easy.

I'm in the "no" camp, simply because, to make the HOF first ballot, you have to beat people who are good. No fault to Golovkin, but his fellow MW's have been incredibly unimpressive.

The same goes for the SMW division. Incredibly lame.

                      The more interesting question:

If Golovkin handles Canelo impressively, and then retires -- what then? Or perhaps he beats Canelo twice. What then?
