ward is one of the dirtiest fighters in boxing. i have been one of his biggest fans for damn near a decade now. headbutts, holding, elbows / forearms, and now low blows.

    doesn't mean he's not a great fighter
doesn't mean he didn't beat kovalev up in the second fight. it means he fights dirty. always has. he's not evander holyfield, but he's not alexis arguello, either.

Earlier in the fight, Weeks gave Ward a warning for hitting Kovalev on the waistband of his trunks. When Ward did the same thing again, I'm pretty sure Kovalev reacted the way he did because he was hoping Weeks would deduct a point.

So I guess you can say Kovalev was looking for an advantage himself. The mistake he made was in not realising that, when you're fighting Andre Ward in the US, the advantages only go one way.
What your saying really doesn't make a whole lot of sense considering that kinda protected star treatment only occurs when someone is a cash machine, like Michael Jordan in the 90's or I could even agree with the case of Mayweather. But Ward ?

Ward is a poor money maker, so why give him the Michael Jordan treatment ?

I find it a arduous task to give credence to that theory.

It's only certain fans that are promoting the excuse. Not one single fighter or trainer has said fouls contributed to the end result of the fight.

Because he's the last American male fighter to win Olympic gold, his promoter is a billionaire who DKSAB and his manager is a notorious gangster.

Ward can't draw flies to **** but RocNation still paid him 5$ mil the first time and 6.5$ mil the second. So who's to say that someone from RocNation or Ward's management didn't bribe the ref/judges?

However Ward was intentionally throwing borderline and several were hitting low, and Kovalev was not able to get a break, and that was terrible.
So there is a difference between intending to land borderline (legal) and intentionally throwing to land low. The first is tactical the second is dirty.

He's a cheating cunt who won't fight outside the States because he wouldn't be allowed to use the dirty tactics he relies on to win anywhere else.

I always hated the "i'll leave it up to the officials" thing. Officials are human beings, old human beings, who make mistakes, frequently.

So I agree with Barrera, that if Kovalev's corner thought there was fouling they should've complained.

Problem is there was some acting there, so if any fouls happened after that acting, Kovalev looked like a bull****ter even if he was in legit pain from a foul. Don't act like you got fouled, that doesn't sit well with refs and when you actually do get fouled that acting comes back to bite you.
