Steve A. obviously needs more boxing research but I had no problems with his after the fight comments. He like Teddy Atlas were fired up over the decision and they had microphones. I felt the same way, if there had been microphones at my house it would have been a bleep, bleep, bleep fest. Good fight for boxing spoiled again by incompetent judging.

Well Stephen A. Smith did acknowledge who Randall Bailey is. He said something alone the line of an aging vet. And the point he was making was that the casual fans would not know these fighters. He admits that he is a casual fan but someone like Max Kellerman may know all the fighters on York's resume. I don't see the problem with what he said. I do hate sometimes when he talks boxing in First Take and he sounds a little clueless at times, but during this segment, before the fight and after the fight, I thought that he was on point.

Yup. Straight from the veteran Bernstein's mouth. Horn is no picnic.

Al Bernstein is a class act.

And he's spot on, if you're being paid to cover a fight, do your research so you can give an informed opinion.

Funeka and Bailey might be years passed their best, but they aren't no names. Stephen A Smith should have known this and be able to comment on it instead of dismissing them like they've never been heard of.

sas knowledge may not be up to par, but he is smart enough to create controversies, which is good for him and boxing

Funeka um not really that good. 2017 version of Castillo=a nobody IF he was a spoon fed opponent too. Steven A is accurate not a stellar list of opponents.
Even if that were true, how relevant is it to Horn's win over Pacquiao? If you think all of Horn's previous opponents were bums and Horn was able to beat Pacquiao, than is Pacquiao not a bum too?
I tend to think Horn was underrated and Pacquiao and his camp took him lightly going into the fight. I'm going to side with Al Bernstein, the man who has been involved in boxing for decades and actually has the experience and the knowledge to make factual and accurate statements.
Stephen A. Smith is just another loud, arrogant blowhard with limited knowledge or understanding of the sweet science. He is a typical sensationalist clown that the US networks and audience seem to enjoy. All talk and no substance. That seems to be the model for today's successful American and he fits it to a tee.
Teddy Atlas, a man who has dedicated his life to boxing, looked hardly better than Smith when he berated Horn and complained about the problem with boxing based on what he determined to be an erroneous points decision in Horn's favor. I've always enjoyed Teddy's passion and commentary but sometimes he makes himself sound like a fool. I tend to take his brash, over the top comments with a grain of salt nowadays because more and more it seems like he's losing it. Maybe senility is setting in, I don't know but he's dead wrong about the fight being a clear victory for Pacquiao. God knows how he had Manny winning the bulk of the first six rounds. He did basically nothing during the first half of the fight. Horn was just too fast and tricky for Pacquiao (never thought I'd say that).
Horn did get away with a lot of fouls but was never deducted a point for it whether it was warranted or not. It's the ref's responsibility to call foul as he sees fit. In any case, a younger, less shot Pacquiao wouldn't have allowed Horn to get away with the dirty inside work. He would've used his footwork, bouncing in and out and around and his fast, sharp combinations from odd angles to stifle Horn's attempts at butting, headlocks and the like.
I could see the fight being a draw or maybe 7-5 Pacquiao but that's being really generous and I'm a Pacquiao fan.

That would of been fine if he fought them then but he fought them in 2016! And Funeka LOST every time or drew when it came to his major title fights.

AND BOTH were like 40 years old!!!
Again, who gives a damn who he fought! He beat Pacquiao so, once again, what does that make Manny?

Yeah, I don't mind the old man either but his son is a serious POS. Just watch the interview they did with Tyson to see how ignorant and disrespectful he is.
