But what I'm saying is outside of Benn asking for the fight, the boxing public nor media clamored for that fight. And no one, I repeat, no one ever accused Jones of ducking Benn like some of these guys have accused Roy of doing over 20 years later. And if you listen to how Benn thought of Jones at that time, he'd probably slap the schit out of some if these guys who said Roy ducked him, himself

Hell, Jeff Horn just said he wants to fight Mayweather. If Floyd doesn't fight him we might as well say Floyd ducked him using some guys logic
      Sections of the media did.

People were hoping the winner of Benn-Gerald would go on to fight Roy.

I think if Roy picked the gloves for Tarver in the rematch and Johnson and fought them at a catchweight, who knows, he may be still undefeated

Please show me these articles and outcries.

HBO would give all the boxing news in the 90's either before each fight or immediately afterwards. I never heard no such thing. Nor do I recall reading this in the sports section in Sunday

But since we're talking about Hopkins, none of his defenses tell me he wasn't fighting in his prime against Jones. How are we supposed to gauge that? Keith Holmes, Simon Brown, Carl Daniels, or Howard Eastman?
The eye ball test, could tell you that Hopkins was most physically capable in that ring from probably the second Mercado fight, through to just before the Trinidad fight.

I never said there were outcries.

I just said that people wanted to see it, especially after Benn had beaten Gerald.

Before Benn had beaten Gerald, a lot of people assumed that Gerald was going to beat Benn and then fight Roy afterwards.

After Benn had beaten Gerald, King immediately called for a fight with Roy. And he was heavily criticised for it due to Gerald's condition.
