The current path for Alvarez, needs to beat Charlo, Saunders, Zurdo Ramirez, Degale and Eubank Jr...

He does all that and he is ATG. It is a pool mix of great prize fights

First of all, I know you are trolling me and all by being facetious but it's alright. I deserved it because I answered the wrong question.

However, my original answer stands which is no, Because he isn't proven anything. He is the heavy betting favorite and the undermatched opponent.

However on the other hand, which I'm readily admitting to misunderstanding the original question; Is yes. A victory over GGG does indeed enhances Canelo's career immensely.

He's the betting underdog and the overmatched opponent. Therefore, he has a lot more to prove in this fight than Golovkin.

In addition, GGG is undefeated, thereby putting the icing on the cake so to speak if he wins; In order to make this victory taste all that much sweeter.

I prefer to approach that question towards the end of a fighter's career. Beating an undefeated fighter with a big reputation like Golovkin certainly wouldn't hurt his prospects. It'd help a great deal more than beating Chavez Jr did. It'd also be more impressive than beating a welterweight or an undersized Cotto. It'd be his best win since Lara which was pretty controversial to begin with. A definitive stoppage of GGG makes him the face of boxing imo.

            He'd be a borderline hof'er.
