Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder Who Wins (POLL)

Flip a coin. Either the guy that lands the first big punch or the second big punch. With huge punching heavyweights, you have to flip a coin. If they fought 5 times, you might have each one getting a victory. I lean towards Joshua because he has been in with better comp but power can change a fight in a split second.Last edited by richardt; 06-27-2017, 09:43 PM.

There's a reason why Eddie Hearn isn't calling out Deontay Wilder. It's because he's too dangerous. All it takes is just one swing by him in order to finish the job and it doesn't matter how many rounds AJ is up or how well he is boxing. With that neutralizer of his, Wilder is never out of a fight. So if Joshua decides to gets too cute or makes a mistake he is done.

I mean, all this talk of 1 punch and he can end a fight implies that Wilder literally needs 1 punch, in which case almost all of his fights would be over in the early rounds would they not?
Yet it took 5 rounds to knockout novice Gerald Washington. 8 rounds to knock out a waaaaay over the hill Arreola, 9 rounds to land that punch of Szpilka, 11 rounds to land the punch against Duhaupas, 9 rounds to land the punch on Molina and he didn't land 'the punch' at all on Stiverne (although in fairness he had a broken hand for that one).
The facts just do not fit the narrative.
The reality is is that Wilder does have the power to get Joshua out of there, but it's certainly not "1 punch and done" and Joshua (who has a 100% knockout ratio in case you forgot) certainly has the power to get Wilder out of there too. For that reason I would always go with Joshua as he is simply a better boxer in my eyes, but Wilder could not be discounted from winning either.
I'd say 60/40 Joshua when the fight happens.

I’d like to see Wilder against high level opponents to see how he deals with a caliber of opponents who aren’t bums taking the fight on short notice. I want to see how he deals with a trash talker who gets under his skin leading up to the fight.. a guy like Whyte would have been a perfect barometer fight to compare his performance against AJ plus see to see if he lets Whyte get him distracted with his trash talk during the lead up.
One thing I've noticed about Wilder is for all of his sloppiness and technical flaws, I noticed that in the fights with Stiverne and Arreola he fought more disciplined and looked a lot more sound and technically better than I've seen him in fights with Szpilka, Molina, Washington, etc....
It may be when he feels the challenge may be greater he focuses more and is more disciplned. However I still saw Wilder punching Wildly after he hurt both Stiverne and Arreola. Other than punching Wildly after he hurt them, everything else looked pretty good and solid compared to his performances against Szpilka, Molina, Washington, etc...
However, Wilder should be disciplined and focused for all of his fights. Fight to his level and not the level of the competition. That's a dangerous game to play.
I like that Joshua always fights to his level and not the level of the competition. He's consistent in every fight and that is how you need to be as a professional. Joshua always says about every fight he is in, it doesn't matter who it is, Joshua always says his job is to make his opponent look like a novice. And he approaches every fight that way.
Wilder should fight everyone the way he fought Stiverne and Arreola. Though he still needs to throw punches properly after getting an opponent hurt. Those windmills are horrendous. SMH, Lol
